Was tonight’s show a shocker? ‘American Idol’ Latest Update

After a night off for ‘Idol Gives back’, ‘American Idol’ returns - and now the results. Okay, not really now, but in about an hour we’ll to the results.

First order of business is to recap last night’s show. Idol Gives back helped to raise more than $60 million for charity as of beginning of tonight’s show (April 10). Last year the show help to raise more than $70 million for impoverished children of the world.

After a choir number featuring the top 8 and a very large choir, the show is off. Next up is a photo-montage-star-lip-snyching version of “I’m a believer.” I’m guessing this is all part of the fund raising but perhaps….unnecessary?

31 million votes came in for this week’s top 8 making it the top number of votes cast this season.

The former idol star for this week is Jordan Sparks along with Chris Brown singing “Air.” Wow, no wonder she was a winner (season six)! She was also recognized for her top selling downloads and top selling cd.

Just a random thought… wasn’t that Ford commercial hot!

Sticking around for for another week are Brooke White, David Cook, David Archeulta, Jason Castro, Kristy Lee Cook.

And, here are the contestant’s who could be going home: Michael John, Carly Smithson and Syesha Mercado.

As the bottom three sweat it out… Michael Johns is going home… wow… that was one of the most shocking votes this season!

Thoughts!

Somebody has to go but yes I am sad that it was Michael. I was more upset with Ryan Seacrest. What a JERK!

Sis, race has nothing to do with anything. That’s why the world is screwed up now, because of comments like that. Her crying has nothing to do with her race.

The only time I think Michael Johns even had a chance to be a finalist in ai was when he did his blues song. All of the rock songs have been karaoke sounding, notes too high, out of his vocal range (and he would scream the notes to him them, just like Carly Smithson—who also has a nice voice but continues to pick songs out of her range). I don’t think he should have left this early, but I never thought he’d win. Syesha should have gone home. Kristy is doing better but still won’t win (if there is any justice in this world, David Cook will win).

Oh, I forgot about Brooke…see, she’s forgetable. Nothing new or unusual or original about her. Not as good as Carly Simon, and I agree that she always looks like she is about to cry. Not someone I was to keep watching. Her voice is pleasant, but forgetable.

Syesha is annoying to watch sing. She looks like she thinks a lot of herself, and it puts me off. I do think she is pretty and should be an actress. She is not original in anyway, and is good enough for karaoke, has nothing to do with race (come on, why does race have to always come up, huh Sis?).

Syesha is a good example of someone who has good voice, good range, but definitely not going to be ai, who would buy her music? I would buy David Cook’s or possibly David A.’s, no one else even has a chance in my opinion. Although I saw a little tiny tim persona, I think Jason Casto will be third now. Carly’s good, but she keeps picking songs that are too high, and she will be out after KLC and Syesha.

Dang man, quit bringing race in stuff. Can’t we all just get along?

Now that all the talent has been eliminated, I have no reason to continue watching this show. How in the world is that “White” crybaby still on??

Ok I am not a dedicated watcher of American Idol, so you all have to forgive me if I speak out of line. Is American Idol to pick the best singer or the most popular singer? Because if it’s the best singer then Syesha wins hands down. If it’s popularity then maybe that explains why people want her off. As long as she is on the show, anyone elses favorite is the second best singer at best. Just how I see it.

I agree with you Hillary! I don’t get it when people say she is acting. If she never would have told you that she was a actress, then what? At least you know she can sing Craig! I aslo agree with you Eve. What Ryan did to Michael was in poor taste. I am hearing that Michael’s line was messed up and people could not get through to vote for him. That may have played a part in his departure. I don’t know if it’s true or not. The same thing happened to Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia Barrino, and La Toya London in season 3.

How can you never be in the bottom 3 and then be sent home? i don’t understand that. Michael johns will go far! I think Kristy Lee Cook should have went home a long time ago, although she has improved the last few week.

no matter who got sent home, Ryan Seacrest was a jerk last night. “Last year we didn’t send anyone home on Idol Gives Back Week — So long, Michael!”

How in the world was Jason not in the bottom three? It was time for Michael Johns to go though. Everyone keeps saying Syesha is a better actress than singer… when has she been ACTING? This is a singing competition. And she’s a really great singer! Even once she’s voted off, she stands a better chance than Jason Castro to actually make a sellable record. If he somehow wins this thing, I don’t think I’ll watch again next year.

Just based on their actual performances on Tuesday night, I was positive David Cook and Carly Smithson would be the bottom two. Michael’s departure was a huge shock to me.

David A is overrated! I think that Michael should NOT of went home! Why in the world is Jason still in, Michael is a better singer than Jason. When it is all said and done lets see who makes any records, I bet it won’t be Jason.

Shocked? Heck, yes. I was never a huge fan of Michael’s, but he was better than a few of the remaining people. Syesha was the one most of the poll here said would go, and she will go soon. She’s a better actress than singer … and I still think David Archuleta is overrated.

Syesha is not a bad singer! Why does everyone think she is? I am not saying that she will win, but she sings better than some of the others. I said that I wouldn’t be suprised to see Michael in the bottom 3, I didn’t expect to see him go. Carly was lucky and she knows it.

Only thing that would have been better would have been Syesha getting booted, maybe next week.
