Charleston was rough on the American Idol Judges

Charleston appeared to be a challenge for the Idol judges on tonight’s (Jan 23) installment of American Idol.

The evening started off with Raysharde and his fro…. while he claimed people say he sounds like Clay Aiken - the judges weren’t impressed - nor was I for that matter.

Next up was Deanna - oh wait that is DeAnna and you better not forget it. I’m not sure what was in her Wheaties before the audition - but, watch out.

When the next couple was introduced as the couple that met by the trash can, we all should have known something would be up - and it was.

Michelle and Jeffery, siblings, were up and gave a pretty good performance - Jeffery’s larger than life presence and the sibling relationship gave the two a golden ticket to Hollywood.

The next few minutes of auditions was a montage showing us a sampling of the Idol wannabes. While we didn’t get to see how the Judges voted, I think it is safe to say this will be the only time this season we’ll get to see this set of contestants.

Amy Catherine Flynn, the captain of the dance team at her school, also preaches about abstinence and Randy asks her to give Simon a speech and she does. Whether Simon really needed to hear her speech is a question we can only wonder about… she was peppy and earned a spot in Hollywood.

London Weidberg also got a golden ticket after singing “Good Morning Heartache.”

Lyndsey Goodman, Aretha Codner and Joshua Boson saw their chances for a golden ticket crushed… Joshua went so far as to say American Idol was faked and rigged. I always thought the people from the South we extra nice?

Oliver Highman, was given a chance to audition after leaving the auditions earlier so he could take his wife to the hospital to deliver their first child. I didn’t think his performance was that bad but Simon said it was “corny, old-fashioned, and not very good.”

For me, the brother sister duo might have near the top of the Charleston outing although London gave a strong performance as well.

Any favorites so far?

Oliver was a sweetheart! It was obvious that he was just nervous and tired. His family is super cute! I hope to see them back!

I really liked Oliver. I think with some coaching he could’ve done alright.
