Dr. Phil to talk about Britney Spears Controversy

Last week (Jan. 17) MTV was reporting that Dr. Phil was facing charges for practicing psychology without a license and for breaking doctor-patient confidentiality rules by talking with the media about the former reality TV/pop diva’s situation.

According to his Web site, Dr. Phil is ready to talk to the public about the “rumors” and is ready to set the record straight. The video preview for Monday’s (Jan 21) show has the host “Delivering the Facts” and claims we will “hear the truth.”

In an interview with USA Today, the “Dr.” told the paper and a audience during the taping of Monday’s show, “I definitely think if I had it to do over again, I probably wouldn’t make any statement at all. Period.” Later in the interview the paper is reporting that McGraw went to see the reality TV/pop diva as “a friend and ally of the family.” potentially dispelling the concerns being raised regarding his practicing psychology without a license.

Should Dr. Phil have gone to help Britney? Can anyone help Britney? Does Dr. Phil give good advice?

Thoughts anyone?

I feel sorry for Britney Spears. We all make mistakes, and sometimes we make big ones. Unfortunately, every time Britney makes one, the whole world knows about and that just makes things worse. Aleast when we make mistakes we are allowed a chance to recover without the entire world judging us. I do agree that she is making some horrible mistakes and needs help, but the press needs to back off. Her children will be able to read this for years to come and that is very unfortunate. My children only know the mistakes I’ve made if I choose to tell them. People need to get in touch with their own lives and handle their own business and stop worrying about what doesn’t concern them.

ALL media needs to back off. Not only is it dangerous to have them around, it is perpetuating the loony Britney. Once they stop paying attention to her she might realize she needs to get her life back. Apparently she doesn’t care about her children much or she would have only left the compoiund for work. The shopping is an excuse to get attention and it’s out of control. Like a spoiled child she should be ignored until she acts right. Dr Phil made the mistake of opening his big mouth as well. He’s too rabid with power.

If Phil’s intentions had been pure, he would have never commented publicly about being there. He made it a media circus and is now caught it a tough, but deserved, spot.

Who else is there for Britney? The media needs to butt out-even this comment post is fueling the fire. If anyone goes after Dr. Phil for trying to help Britney they will hear it from the public. People need to mind their own business-nothing is private anymore. Yes, Britney was very popular but if you remember she backed away-so leave her alone. She has very few “good” friends and no dout feels that the men in her life have all been after her money-she needs advice and that is all that Dr. Phil was trying to do. You cant reach her unless you reach out to her-Thank you Dr. Phil for being the caring person that you are. I dont see anyone else stepping up to the plate!!!

Dr. Phil did the right thing by rushing to save Britney but he shouldn’t have shared the details of the meeting with the press. Somebody needs to rescue that poor child and save her from herself - and save us from hearing about her escapades - it is getting VERY boring. What on earth will she do next? Hopefully we will hear she’s getting help - I would much prefer that over reading an obit.

He shouldnt have talked about it to the media but I dont think he realized the magnitude of those consequences until after it was too late. He made a mistake, and admitted that. She’s the one acting like a fruit loop. No one else can be blamed for her behavior.

There’s nothing wrong with Dr. Phil going to help Britney as long as he was asked to and the parameters were understood. He should have kept quiet, though. I’m surprised he didn’t. He does give good advice. Not enough people hear it. Can anyone help Britney? Sure. However the media needs to butt out. By their own irresponsible actions photographers, reporters, etc. are pouring gas on the fire. They are part of the problem. Yeah, she’s done some stupid stuff but, by their actions, the media bears some blame in the matter.
