‘Nooooooo…’Dance’ is splitting up the couples!

Most of the solos were amazing tonight. Travis really got my heart though. I’m such a softy. Bye Bye Ashley and Musa. This really isn’t too surprising although after the solo I thought it may be Dmitry. The bigger surprise for me tonight was how they will change up the dancing next week.

Each dancer will dance three times. Two couple dances and one solo. America votes for the individual. But splitting the couples apart? NOOOOOOOOO. I can’t imagine Travis dancing with anyone other than Martha and Benji and Donyelle, forget about it! And now after the passionate contemporary dance of Ivan and Allison, they can’t split them up. You could tell the dancers were surprised as well. I thought poor Travis was going to faint. At the very least it should be interesting!

The dancers have been narrowed down enough that the show is only an hour. I’m actually pretty bummed about that. I love watching this show. I could watch for a much longer period than one or two hours.

Let’s talk about last night’s dancing…

Natalie and Musa doing Hip Hop

Promiscuous by Nelly Furtado

My favorite judge and choreographer Dan Karaty really put a good one together for these two. Natalie pulled off the perfect tease and Musa the a-typical skirt chaser. Outside of the acting part, I wasn’t all that impressed with the dancing. Musa was in his element and pretty good, but Natalie “isn’t a funky little while girl.

Ryan and Heidi get Cha-Cha

Sex Bomb by Tom Jones

This was one of the hottest choreographed Cha-Cha’s I’ve ever seen. Heidi looked really amazing. She’s a little skinny, but boy can she move. Ryan is so cute, but not in a smoldering Musa kind of way, but more in a boy next door way and that comes across in his dancing. Just not quite as steamy as it could have been, but nonetheless hot!

Ivan and Allison picked a Contemporary dance

Why by Annie Lennox

Wow. Did I say WOW?! Allison is always great, but Ivan knocked my socks off. I really wasn’t expecting him to be this good. They were just brilliant. They completely captured the necessary maturity and intimacy for this dance. Wow!

Ashlee and Dmitry pulled Pop

Let Me by Rihanna

Okay, so Pop is a watered down version of Hip Hop with a jazz influence. It’s good we cleared that up. The routine is fun and funky but not much more. Even though they were dancing together, they didn’t feel like they were dancing together, you know what I mean? Seems to be that the guy judges were slamming Karaty’s choreography as much as the dancers. Dmitry is a great Latin dancer but lacks the versatility in the other styles. He may be gone this week.

Martha and Travis pull the Foxtrot

Witchcraft by Steve Tyrell

Poor Travis. Seems like he just can’t get a break lately…until he meets quirky little Frenchman choreographer Jean-Marc Genereaux. What a character. Although they were elegant and looked better than I thought they would, it wasn’t spectacular. To me, they lack the chemistry that works so well for a couple of the other teams.

Donyelle and Benji play Broadway

You can’t stop the beat from Hairspray

I just love these two. This dance was very high energy and matched their personalities, but it wasn’t one of my favorites. It lacked the intimacy that I love to watch between these two but it really was great. Interesting enough, Judge Nigel makes a very bold statement, regarding Benji “If you don’t win it, I’ll be very surprised.” Then he tells Donyelle the same thing. Wow.

Unfortunately, I missed the show Wednesday night. I did get to see the results show last night and was upset that I missed my favorite couple, Ivan and Allison, after I saw their little snippit. It will be sad not to see them together each week - but, maybe they’ll get lucky and draw each other’s names! As far as the two that got kicked off, Ashlee was my pick to go - but, I wanted Musa to stay. I think he’s done a great job picking up these other styles of dances - you can’t say that about every freestyler that would come off the street!

I think it’s awesome that they get to dance seperate. I LOVE Benji and Donyelle (sp) but I think Dymetri deserves a good partner too!!
