No “Hot Legs” for ‘Idols’ on Rod Stewart Week
++++Update++++++: Thanks to Katie we’ve got some info on who will be singing what. My honest opinion is that Idol leaked song selection last week to pump up excitement. This week it’s been harder to find song choices but here’s what we’ve got (again, thanks Katie).
Elliott may be singing “It Had To Be You” and Chris may be singing “Night and Day.” The Idols all apparently had a hard time clearing their song choices, so many ended up with songs they didn’t want.
Even though it’s Rod Stewart week on American Idol don’t expect to see the remaining seven asking “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?” and showing off their “Hot Legs” tonight. Instead they dive into the genre of the standards. Guided by Stewart, who has reinvigorated his career by recording 55 songs from the 30’s and 40’s; this could be one of the better weeks of the season. It also has the makings of one of the worst. It all depends on song selection.
Song selection. Probably two of the dirtiest words in the Idol’s vocabulary. The only person I see this being a piece of cake for is sultry vocalist Katharine McPhee. I actually have high hopes for everyone else…well, except pitchy Kellie Pickler. I hope she twangs herself right off the stage and out the door. If I can get a line on what the songs are anytime today, I’ll post ‘em.
Two Idol Psychics agree that Ace Young will be the one to go this week. I hope they are wrong, I surely do. I have high hopes of him hitting one out of the park this week. These songs, the standards, hold great potential. If he does poorly, believe it or not, I’ll be the first one to admit it’s time for him to go.
In Idol news this morning…it’s official. Taylor Hicks WILL NOT dye his grey hair. Apparently Taylor heard the cries of fans on message boards and blogs to keep his “Clooney-esque look. My personal opinion? He wouldn’t have caved to the pressure of his stylist and Idol producers to darken his locks anyway. The fans just gave him the ammunition he needed to say back off.
I’m once again excited about tonight’s show. The pressure is definitely on and there is so much on the line now with every note they sing. No matter who wins, I respect each one of them for having the guts to do this. Not only having the courage to stand on stage in front of an audience of millions a couple times a week, but to stand there and take the scrutiny of the judges. Do you think you could?

Hi Kelle, The AI boards and TelevisionWithoutPityforums are reporting that Chris is singing “Night and Day.” I also heard that Elliott Yamin was originally going to perform “I’m In the Mood for Love,” but he changed to “It Had to Be You.” Another Blog is reporting that several Idols are rehearsing tunes that aren’t their original choices.
