Kelly Clarkson - An Idol?
A little of the sparkle that is Kelly Clarkson has tarnished for me. Being a huge fan of Idol and an even bigger fan of Kelly Clarkson, I was very disappointed in the recent controversy regarding her song rights and whether they could be coveted by the next generation of would be Idols.
I certainly don’t understand Hollywood and how record labels work and maybe this was more her management at Sony BMG records than her, but where would she be now if not for this show. Waiting tables, singing at local bars, dreaming of a singing career?
After a public bashing from fans and the folks from Idol, she and her record company have relented stating they will look at it on a “case by case basis.”
I’m with you on this one Simon. I still love her voice, and I’ll buy her next record, but come on Kelly!

Who cares?!? What does every person on American Idol sing? Somebody elses music!! What is the big deal? She should just get over it b/c if it weren’t for American Idol, she would have nothing and she definately wouldn’t be on the radios!

Hey guys, I understand how ya’ll feel but we really don’t know how much control she had in the situation and how much was her label. Idol is just spewing whatever may give them press, regardless of who it may hurt. I choose to believe Kelly really does appreciate her Idol roots.

Even though Kelly gave in and said ‘American Idol’ could use her music, I have to wonder what she was thinking. Without ‘AI,’ where would she be? She should be grateful the show even wants to use her music.

I totally agree with you Kelle. I think it is completely a slap in the face to anyone that has ever supported her. The show is the reason she is where she is today. Did she forget that she didn’t sing her own material when she was on the show? I really thought she was one person that would stay “real” after she made it, but she’s starting to prove me wrong!
