Is Ohio’s neighbor, West Virginia, moving toward Obama?

Ohio’s eastern neighbor, West Virginia, has only five electoral votes. But, those five electoral votes have been heavily predicted to be in John McCain’s column on Election Day.

Recent polls are showing that McCain’s lead in West Virginia is shrinking and that state may be becoming more competitive after recent weeks of negative economic news.

A CNN/Time poll in late September showed McCain with a very small lead over Obama, 50-46. A recent American Research poll taken in the first week of October shows Obama winning in West Virginia, 50-42.

West Virginia voted for President Bush twice, but voted for Bill Clinton twice as well. The state even went for Democrat Michael Dukakis in 1988.

The fact that West Virginia may be in play may explain why Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin is campaigning in St. Clairsville, Ohio, just 12 miles west of Wheeling, West Virginia, on Sunday, Oct. 12. Democrat Vice Presidential nominee Joe Biden will be in the same town on Tuesday, Oct. 14. Obama has opened 21 offices across the state.

According to CNN, Palin had planned a tour through Pennsylvania in the coming week, but just added stops throughout West Virginia.

Obama does not support gun rights. Look at his record, not what he lies about now! He does not support gun rights. He does not support free speech, unless you are praising him. The NRA has endorsed McCain. The NRA ran ads stating Obama does not support gun rights and Obama bullied and inimitated networks trying to get the ads pulled. That’s your future with Obama. You will not be able to speak out against his government. This man is so full of himself. Wake up people Obama is laughing at you. Ayers, Wright, Far.. they are all laughing at how they are about to actually take down America and turn it into the communist country they want.

What an astounding lack of knowledge displayed on DDN, including from many of the readers. 1 George Bush as President must pass the funding bills he gets from Congress. When you blame him for run-away spending, you must blame Congress as well. 2 Democrats have had control of both houses of Congress for the last 2 years and have done diddly squat to help YOU. Prior to that they were only slightly in the minority and the BLOCKED Republicans at every turn. 3 Ohio’s problems are NOT the responsibility of the representatives at the National level. The fault lies with the incompetent leaders put into office in your City, county, and STATE level offices. Now there are Republicans and Democrats both that deserve blame, but if you educate yourself on local politics you will see that Democrats are in charge of the areas (Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, Cleveland) that have consistantly struggled to promote business and prosperity in those communities. And then Ohio begins to elect Democrats to state level offices (ie Gov) and to the US Senate and the state starts to tank as a whole. Policies Democrats promote to tax business DRIVE THEM OUT OF THE STATE. BUSINESSES CAN’T AFFORD TO HIRE PEOPLE IN OHIO. It’s as simple as that. One more thing, if you vote no on issue 6, you are giving the middle finger to 5,000 Ohioans who could have a good paying job. Remember, ALL POLITICS IS LOCAL. Responsibility starts and ends in YOUR backyard.

Ohio helped elect Bush twice as President. Our unemployment rate is higher than other surrounding states. Our young are leaving to other cities and states. When are we going to wake up and figure out who has been bashing us in the head for the last 8 years? The Republicans controlled the White House since 2000 and the Congress from 1994-2006. The Republicans try to distract us with phony patriotism and an appeal to our worst fears while they push for economic policies that favor management and the rich of the country. If you are not earning over $250,000, you should have your head examined if you consider voting Republican this year

Obama Tells Tax-Burdened Plumber the Plan is to ‘Spread the Wealth Around’. “It’s not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody that is behind you, that they have a chance for success too.” Obama ‘08

Yes. Most Americans are now leaning towards Obama. And, most Americans have suffered through the last 8 years; except of course, for the rich. This election is coming down to the economy. Name calling is not working. Old red states have seen the light. Palin is an example of a person that sees a narrow minded america. True patriots see what can happen when people come together for a cause. The question has been asked, “who is Obama”. For you republicans, just look around. It is all of us that inspire for a new direction.

This is long, but very important and worth the time to read it. This election has me very worried. So many things to consider. I watch all the news channels, jumping from one to another. I must say this drives my husband crazy. But, I feel if you view MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News, you might get some middle ground to work with. About six months ago, I started thinking—- “where did the money come from for Obama”. I have four daughters who went to College, and we were middle class, and money was tight. We (including my girls) worked hard and there were lots of student loans. I started looking into Obama’s life. Around 1979 Obama started college at Occidental in California. He is very open about his two years at Occidental; he tried all kinds of drugs and was wasting his time but, even though he had a brilliant mind, did not apply himself to his studies. “Barry” (that was the name he used all his life) during this time had two roommates, Muhammad Hasan Chandoo and Wahid Hamid, both from Pakistan. During the summer of 1981, after his second year in college, he made a “round the world” trip. Stopping to see his mother in Indonesia, next Hyderabad in India, three weeks in Karachi, Pakistan where he stayed with his roommate’s family, then off to Africa to visit his father’s family. My question - Where did he get the money for this trip? Nether I, nor any one of my children would have had money for a trip like this when they where in college. When he came back he started school at Columbia University in New York. It is at this time he wants everyone to call him Barack - not Barry. Do you know what the tuition is at Columbia? It’s not cheap! to say the least. Where did he get money for tuition? Student Loans? Maybe. After Columbia, he went to Chicago to work as a Community Organizer for $12,000. a year. Why Chicago? Why not New York? He was already living in New York. By “chance” he met Antoin “Tony” Rezko, born in Aleppo Syria, and a real estate developer in Chicago. Rezko has been convicted of fraud and bribery this year. Rezko, was named “Entrepreneur of the Decade” by the Arab-American Business and Professional Association”. About two years later, Obama entered Harvard Law School. Do you have any idea what tuition is for Harvard Law School? Where did he get the money for Law School? More student loans? After Law school, he went back to Chicago. Rezko offered him a job, which he turned down. But, he did take a job with Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland. Guess what? They represented “Rezar” which is Rezko’s firm. Rezko was one of Obama’s first major financial contributors when he ran for office in Chicago. In 2003, Rezko threw an early fundraiser for Obama which Chicago Tribune reporter David Mendelland claims was instrumental in providing Obama with “seed money” for his U.S. Senate race. In 2005, Obama purchased a new home in Kenwood District of Chicago for $1.65 million (less than asking price). With ALL those Student Loans - Where did he get the money for the property? On the same day Rezko’s wife, Rita, purchased the adjoining empty lot for full price. The London Times reported that Nadhmi Auchi, an Iraqi-born Billionaire loaned Rezko $3.5 million three weeks before Obama’s new home was purchased. Obama met Nadhmi Auchi many times with Rezko. Now, we have Obama running for President. Valerie Jarrett, was Michele Obama’s boss. She is now Obama’s chief advisor and he does not make any major decisions without talking to her first. Where was Jarrett born? Ready for this? Shiraz, Iran. Do we see a pattern here? Or, am I going crazy? On May 10, 2008 The Times reported, Robert Malley advisor to Obama was “sacked” after the press found out he was having regular contacts with “Hamas “, which controls Gaza and is connected with Iran. This past week, buried in the back part of the papers, Iraqi newspapers reported that during Obama’s visit to Iraq, he asked their leaders to do nothing about the war until after he is elected, and he will “Take care of things”. Oh, and by the way, remember the college roommates that where born in Pakistan? They are in charge of all those “small” Internet campaign contributions for Obama. Where is that money coming from? The poor and middle class in this country? Or could it be from the Middle East? And the final bit of news. On September 7, 2008, The Washington Times posted a verbal slip that was made on “This Week” with George Stephanapoulos. Obama on talking about his religion said, “My Muslim faith”. When questioned, “he made a mistake”. Some mistake! All of the above information I got on line. If you would like to check it - Wikipedia, encyclopedia, Barack Obama; Tony Rezko; Valerie Jarrett: Daily Times - Obama visited Pakistan in 1981; The Washington Times - September 7, 2008; The Times May 10, 2008. Now the BIG question - If I found out all this information on my own, why haven’t all of our “intelligent” members of the press been reporting this? A phrase that keeps ringing in my ear - “Beware of the enemy from within.”

Maybe Sen. Obama can follow the economic policies of his party, the Do Nothing Promise Everything Dem Party. Sen. Obama makes a lot of promises so far he has broken his promise on fillbustering FISA and pledge to accept the Campaign Finance Reform funds. Can we really trust Sen. Obama to deliver any necessary programs when his resume is so thin? I did not see many spending cuts and we will have to work together to bring this country out of this economic mess McCain/Palin for results and experience!

Ohioans need to think carefully about what this election is all about. Clinton left office with the economy in excellent shape heading toward surpluses not debt. Bush has run up the biggest debt in US history by cutting taxes for the wealthiest 1% based on the failed trickle down policies again and financing a disastrous war in Iraq against the best interests of this country. Under Bush interest rates were kept absurdly low and deregulation with no oversight gave Wall St. the chance they needed to crash the stock market and put all of our retirement plans in jeopardy. Bush has mortgaged the future of this country to offshore interests including the Chinese and the Russians. We are near the greatest calamity since the Great Depression and McCain, who said a few weeks ago that the economy was fundamentally sound wants to continue the economic policies of George Bush.
