If you Hate America then vote Obama because he does. He is going to make it his own. He snubbed the military in Iraq(unless he had his TV camera)so good luck getting soldiers to fight for him.

This year I am sure we can all agree economy and jobs trumps everything. It will trump Iraq war, race, and abortion issues. I will vote for Barack Obama. My family cannot make it another 4 years of the same republican trickle down economic plan of McCain. This has not worked. None of us in Ohio is better off than 8 years ago. Obama will create jobs by building inside the US. New infrastructure projets include roads, bridges, levys etc. This will mean jobs for everyone in every aspect of business. Obama also will take away the tax credit for moving jobs outside the US. Tax breaks will be given to companies that keep jobs in the USA. I will vote for the democratic platform this year strictly because it is in the best interest of my family.

McCain has been eratic and hypocritical and I am concerned that he does not have what it takes to be a great president. First, he continues to have Palin do his dirty work spreading lies. I have also heard reports that his campaign people may be behind the people in the audience shouting out vicious comments. It is McCain’s character and judgement that should be questioned. His judgement with choosing Sarah Palin to apprease his conservative base, when he wanted Joe Lieberman. If he would have vetted her correctly, he would have know about her ABUSE OF POWER. Sounds like a female version of Dick Cheney, except with no substance. ( I have to admit that Cheney is intelligint although I disagree with his perspective. McCain’s campaign is taking a chapter from past Republican campaigns. Ignore the issues and scare the public with false misleading ads. There is 2 wars going on and the economony is in horrible shape. Thank goodness Obama is speaking to the issues.

The housing deregulation bill signed by Clinton was a Republican bill and the Republican led Congress had power to overturn his veto. Thank you.

Steve: Maybe you’re hoping to score some anti-Obama points by slamming Illinois and figuring no one will know better, but here I am checking in from Chicago and you’re not going to slip it past me. I’ll take your errors in order: 1) Illinois is not “in the worst financial shape than any other state,” which not only makes zero sense, but would be inaccurate if I think I understand what you meant to say. All states are struggling, of course, but Illinois has lower unemployment, fewer home foreclosures and fewer personal bankruptcies than Ohio by nearly half. 2) The state pension fund has run at a deficit of about 3% for the past decade. It’s nothing new, and no retiree has ever lost a penny of their state retirement benefits. 3) Nowhere in the entire Cook County (not Cooke, Steve) area do we have a 10.25% tax rate. Try about 2 full percentage points lower. 4) Chicago Police report just over 300 murders this year (in a city of over 4-1/2 million), as opposed to over 4,000 U.S. military deaths in Iraq. I know Al Capone used to live here, but did you really think you could make an outrageous claim to the contrary and no one would care. Get a clue, people (and Donna Noggle, you’re included too with your silly anti-Palin tripe), the farther out your BS is, the worse it reflects on your candidate.

Thinkaboutit: In regards to the cop thing, a police chief in FL is being investigated and may lose his job for appearing and speaking at a McCain rally in his uniform, which is unfortunate. It is against the law for someone to even appear to be using their public uniform in a campaign. Obama was simply saving these cops from possibly losing their jobs by not appearing in photos with him. They were there as public employees, not as campaign surrogates. And yes, the info you are spreading did come from viral emails rather than anything credible so please don’t misrepresent your sources. If you choose to believe the emails and even the misinformation being spread on talk radio, and you truly believe it to be true, then you have no reason to misrepresent your sources.

The Republican controlled Alaskan legislature has just announced that Sarah Palin has been found to have abused her power as governor in the Troopergate scandal. We have had 8 years of an administration that considered abuse of power standard operating procedure. With the monumental problems facing the country now, we cannot afford 4 more years of abuse of power. Sarah Palin has shown that she cannot be trusted to wield the great power of the office of vice president or, heaven forbid, president fairly, ethically, and legally. Please spare the country that horror and vote for Obama/Biden.

I’ve made statements on this board in the last couple of days regarding my lack of respect for McCain in reference to the nasty attacks going on at McCain/Palin rallies and McCain’s reluctance to denounce them. In light of an event today, I feel the need to post again. I disagree with McCain on policy (and disagree with Palin even more) and I have supported Obama for the past couple of years based on issues alone, but I have always had respect for McCain not only as a war hero but also as an elected official who believed in what he stood for and had integrity. That respect diminished in the past week as I have watched hateful supporters spout violence at rallies and have watched McCain do and say nothing. Today, in Minnesota, McCain finally spoke out against the rhetoric. He declared that Obama was not an arab, was not a terrorist, that Obama was a decent family man and an American whom he happened to have differences with on the issues. He went on to tell his supporters that they had nothing to fear under an Obama presidency other than in differences in policy. It hasn’t changed my vote, as my vote was truly based on first policy and only then character. I still disagree with McCain on the issues, but he has restored my respect in him as a decent human being. Thank you John McCain for doing the right thing and I ask all hateful, nasty supporters on both sides to come to their senses and take to heart the example that McCain set today.

Lets see …Obamas way … .Tax the rich and big businesses and not the middle class …Sounds really great right? … .Well not really. Lets examine this a little. When you start to tax the rich and big businesses like Wal-mart, Kroger, places you like to eat at . .ect. the first thing they will do to compensate their losses is to raise the prices of their products, and guess who will pay for that? Yes the middle class. They might even start to cut JOBS! Obama also does not want to drill off shore for oil. So that means the oil prices will stay the same and the Semi trucks carrying all of the supplys will use alot of gas. With the higher taxes, the cost of fuel, once again the cost of the product to the consumer goes up! The middle class taxes will not go up but believe me… .we will end up paying more out of our pocket for the products we need on a daily basis. His plan makes the middle class pay more! McCain on the other hand does not want to tax the rich and big businesses therefore resulting in lower prices for the middle class. McCain also wants to drill for oil off shore. Once again….that will make gas cheaper, and the gas that the semi trucks use will be less and less means a lower cost to the consumer! Thats less money the middle class has to fork out for their daily needs! And lets not put all of the economic problems on President Bush. Congress truly controls the nation and who has been in charge of congress the past years? … .the democrats! And Clinton was actually the first to start shipping jobs overseas as well.

Is calling Gov. Palin, Carabo Barby, sexist? We certainly do not want to confuse the Obama supporters with the facts and “the records” of both candidates. It always so fascinating that most people want to discuss the issues but then it spirals downhill with personal attacks after Sen. Obama’s paper thin record is revealed. Keep up the research Leslie because the facts and the records are very important.

Oct.19, 1987 Stock Market Crash-Largest one day plunge in Wall Street history-President Reagan(Republican) 4.) 1987-1992 Recession President Reagan/Bush(Republican) 5.) 2002-2003 Recession-President Bush(Republican) 6.) Financial Meltdown/Wall Street Defaults Socialism Begins 2008-President Bush(Republican) Why wouldn’t you want to vote Republican? I’m sure the denial will continue but Jack Nicholson said it best in ‘A Few Good Men’,”The Truth, You can’t Handle the Truth. Good Luck to all If McCain wins, because you live in Dayton, Ohio. This is for you GM retirees. If GM goes into bankruptcy(I pray they do not), your pension will be reduced to 20% which is .20 on the dollar. If you get $4000 a month you will receive $800 a month from the PBGC(Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation). I wish everyone the best of luck and MAY GoD Bless.

Just in case you had any doubts. Obama disrespects cops. I recall earlier this year where his campaign set up porta-potties on a fallen officer memorial during a campaign rally. To all, I have read all of the emails from not only some of the MTOA board members, but from other Law Enforcement & Military personnel about Barack Obama’s rudeness and what seems to be disgust for basically anyone in uniform. Well, it’s my turn to add to the list of emailers. So members of the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department, MSP, and other local agencies inside Calhoun County are working with Secret Service in the security of Mr. Obama. Mr. Obama’s bus arrives in Battle Creek and pulls into the stadium area. Before Mr. Obama exits the bus, he has the Secret Service get off and tell all Law Enforcement personnel in uniform that they now have to stand behind the bus so Mr. Obama is not seen with anyone in a Law Enforcement uniform before he gets off or while in the public view. So, everyone from MSP, Sheriff’s Dept., and other agencies looks at each other for a brief second, goes and stands behind the bus out of sight so Mr. Obama does not have to see, or been seen with, what to him is ‘undesirables’ since he refuses to been seen or even acknowledge Military or Law Enforcement. At a time of war and terrorism in our world, this presidental candidate who is being protected by various branches of the military & law enforcement at the tax payers expense, refuses to acknowledge, be seen with, have in his photographed background, any type of Military or Law Enforcement in uniform. But this is not in the media or headlines in the news. Why? I wonder what the story or media frenzy would be if it was muslims, blacks, whites, jews, or any other race, gender, religon, and/or occupation, that Mr. Obama refuses to be seen with or have around him. Just food for thought leading up to November 4th.

John McCain finally put a stop to all the hate nonsense against Obama at a couple of rallies today. He calmed his crowd and stated that Obama was a family man and decent human being. Why is it that with DHL leaving Ohio the blame is going to the Bush Administration and not the Ohio Governor? When Taft was Governor, all jobs leaving Ohio were blamed on him. However, with a Dumocrat Governor, the blame is pushed passed him to the White House. Typical hypocritical Dumocrat voters: always blame someone else. Why isn’t the Dayton mayor taking heat for GM closing the truck plant in Moraine? Oh yeah, she’s a Dumocrat and not to blame. When Turner was mayor he got blamed for the Delphi closings. Again, typical Dumocrats who don’t take responsibility for their actions. The Dumocrats have controlled the House and Senate for 2 years: the economy has gotten worse. Who’s to blame, again the Bush White House. Dumocrats need to learn how to be responsible citizens and not always blaming others for their failure. Just losers, no other way to say it.

To Thinkaboutit: Just because Mcdinasaur got away with assisting Keating scamming millions of Americans hard earned money doesn’t make him innocent. John McCain is one the most corrupt politicians in D.C and that is one of the reasons why he committed adultery and left his poor injured wife for Cindy to start his political career with Cindy’s father who had ties to the mafia. I think some of you guys really need to ask yourself why are you getting hateful and untruthful information from Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh who are two idiots with no college education. Does Obama Walk The Walk On Schools? By THOMAS SOWELL What about those “real issues” that Barack Obama’s supporters in the media say we should get back to, whenever some new unsavory fact about his past comes out? The Real Obama: Part 1 Surely education is a real issue, with American schoolchildren consistently scoring below those in other countries, and children in minority communities faring worst of all. What about Senator Obama’s position on this real issue? As with other issues, he has talked one way and acted the opposite way. The education situation in Obama’s home base of Chicago is one of the worst in the nation for the children — and one of the best for the unionized teachers. Fewer than one-third of Chicago’s high-school juniors meet the statewide standards on tests. Only 6% of the youngsters who enter Chicago high schools become college graduates by the time they are 25 years old. The problem is not money: Chicago spends more than $10,000 per student. Chicago teachers are doing well. A beginning teacher, fresh out of college, earns more than the city’s median income and that can rise to more than $100,000 over the years. That’s for teaching six hours a day, nine months of the year. Moreover, a teacher’s income is dependent on seniority and other such factors — and in no way dependent on whether their students are actually learning anything. Obama has said eloquent and lofty words about education, as he has about other things — for example, how it is “unacceptable in a country as wealthy as ours” that some children “are not getting a decent shot at life” because of the failing schools. In a predominantly black suburb of Chicago, where the average teacher’s salary is $83,000 and one-fourth of the teachers make more than $100,000, Barack Obama noted that the school day ends at 1:30 p.m. In his book “Dreams from My Father,” Obama said candidly that black teachers and administrators “defend the status quo with the same skill and vigor as their white counterparts of two decades before.” It is not a question of Obama’s not knowing. He has demonstrated conclusively that he knows what is going on. But, for all his eloquent words, he has voted consistently for the teachers’ unions and the status quo. “I owe those unions,” he has said frankly. “When their leaders call, I do my best to call them back right away. I don’t consider this corrupting in any way.” Only other politicians’ special interests are called “special interests” by Barack Obama, whose world-class ability to rationalize is his most frightening skill. Even when he verbally endorses the reform idea of merit pay for teachers, he cleverly redefines merit so that it will be measured by teachers themselves, rather than by “arbitrary tests.” In other words, Obama placates critics of the educational status quo by being for merit pay in words, while making those words meaningless, so as not to offend the teachers’ unions. The failings of teachers are only part of the disaster of inner-city public schools. Disruptive and violent students can make it impossible for even the best teachers to educate students. Administrators are reluctant to impose any serious punishment on those students who make it impossible for other students to learn. Partly this is because liberal judges can make it literally a federal case if more minority students are punished than others. In other words, if black males are punished more often than Asian-American females, that can be enough to get the administrators drawn into a legal labyrinth, costing money and time, even if the punishment is eventually upheld. When a bill was introduced into the Illinois state legislature that would put more teeth into suspensions of misbehaving students, Barack Obama voted against that bill. A real reformer would want to crack down on both unruly students and unaccountable teachers. A clever politician would speak eloquently, demand “change” — and then vote for the status quo. Obama talks a great game.

McCain is also opposed to a new GI Bill, as proposed by Senator James Webb. McCain is no friend of veterans. McCain continues his dirty politics campaign and, it is making him, Palin and the Republicans look like hatemongers and evil. It isn’t working. McCain using “guilt by association” Well, McCain had connections to the Keating 5 scandal, Iran/Contra and also, he lacks morals… Cheated on his first wife to marry a rich cheerleader/former drug addict. McCain voted with Bush 95% of the time.. Bush is a former alcoholic, with possible cocaine use in his past. McCain probably has some lingering PTSD from his VietNam experience and has anger issues. He is irrational and not fit to command. McCain will continue the failed policies of Bush. He does not care about our country and would put his own goals above the needs of our country.

Now, our opponents tell us not to worry about their tax increases. They tell you they’re not going to tax your family. (Laughter.) No, they’re just going to tax “businesses.” So, unless you buy something from a business, like groceries or clothes or gasoline — (laughter) — or unless you get a paycheck from a business, a big business or a small business, don’t worry, it’s not going to affect you! (Laughter, cheers, applause.) They say they’re not going to take any water out of your side of the bucket, just the other side of the bucket! (Laughter.) That’s their idea of tax reform.

Not only was John McCain a no show on the GI Bill vote he opposed, which the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars fully supported, he now wants to limit veteran health care to only combat related injury in order to save money. Per retired Army General Robert Gard, McCain’s proposal for concentrating health care on just combat injuries would “shortchange those veterans who suffer from non-combat related conditions”.

A new Leslie has shown up so now I seem to have a split personality. So I changed to Leslie1. The democrats tried to bring up Obama’s alliances during the primaries and they got squashed by their own party. Gee wonder why? How many democrats are really trying to dismantle capitalist America? Pelosi, Barney Frank, Dodd and who knows who else. Looks to me like they have been doing a good job and Bush was to stupid to realize it. McCain is protecting his country. He has to do this, this should have been done long ago. Do you want a President that does not believe America is good? Do you want a President that believes capitalist America is evil? This vetting needs to be done. The citizens of America need to know who they are voting for.

Dutch Youth Socialists traveling to US to campaign for Obama Netherlands blogger Michael van der Galien reports that a group of young Dutch Socialists will be flying here to campaign for Barack Obama: … I received an e-mail I found quite interesting. The Jonge Socialisten asked me whether I would like to travel to America with them shortly before the U.S. elections in order to do ‘research.’ Now, before readers will think this would be a great opportunity for me to visit the country I write about so frequently, the trip had a specific partisan purpose despite it being described as ‘research’: They would travel to the United States to campaign for Barack Obama, the Democratic nominee for the presidency. In fact, one of the demands of potential applicants is that they need to have a “great affinity with the Democratic Party and Barack Obama.”

Barack Obama is lying about his involvement with the group ACORN, which recently added Missouri to the list of states in which its activities are under investigation. While Obama’s site maintains that he never trained ACORN activists — whose training apparently encourages them to play fast and loose with election laws — Chicago ACORN leader Toni Foulkes has thanked Obama for doing precisely that: Since then, we have invited Obama to our leadership training sessions to run the session on power every year, and, as a result, many of our newly developing leaders got to know him before he ever ran for office. Thus it was natural for many of us to be active volunteers in his first campaign for STate Senate and then his failed bid for U.S. Congress in 1996. By the time he ran for U.S. Senate, we were old friends.” The Los Angeles Times has reported the same. Given all the improprieties with which ACORN has been associated in the past, as well as the accusations against it this year, it’s easy to see why Obama hopes the media will ignore this issue.

John Weaver, McCain’s former top strategist, said top Republicans have a responsibility to temper this behavior. “People need to understand, for moral reasons and the protection of our civil society, the differences with Sen. Obama are ideological” Weaver said. “And from a purely practical political vantage point, please find me a swing voter, an undecided independent, or a torn female voter that finds an angry mob mentality attractive. As a party we should not and must not stand by as the small amount of haters in our society question whether he is as American as the rest of us. Shame on them and shame on us if we allow this to take hold.”

By Ben

Jack: Irregardless of ACORN, it is the job of Secretary of State and the Board of Elections to verify registrations, not local police department. The point is that you have a bunch of low information Republicans getting freaked out and calling on a Republican leader to use his authority (of which he has none in this case) to bully people. Further, if there is registration fraud, the point would be only to drive up registration numbers. A false registration doesn’t equal a vote. Bottom line, there is nothing for Fischer to gain from this other than personal information on people in a heavy Republican county.

Change you can believe in. Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, another powerful Chicago-based political figure associated with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and other long-time associates of Democratic Party presidential candidate Barack Obama, is leaving no doubt about what he thinks of the leader in the campaign for the White House. He says when Obama talks “the Messiah is absolutely speaking.” “You are the instruments that God is going to use to bring about universal change, and that is why Barack has captured the youth. And he has involved young people in a political process that they didn’t care anything about. That’s a sign. When the Messiah speaks, the youth will hear, and the Messiah is absolutely speaking.” “Brothers and sisters,” Farrakhan said, “Barack Obama to me, is a herald of the Messiah. Barack Obama is like the trumpet that alerts you something new, something better is on the way.” Farrakhan points out that the man Nation of Islam followers refer to as “the Savior,” Fard Muhammad, had a black father and a white mother, just as Obama did. “A black man with a white mother became a savior to us,” he said. “A black man with a white mother could turn out to be one who can lift America from her fall. “Would God allow Barack to be president of a country that has been so racist, so evil in its treatment of Hispanics, native Americans, blacks?” he asked. “Would God do something like that? Yeah. Of course he would. That’s to show you that the stone that the builders rejected has become the headstone of the corner. This is a sign to you. It’s the time of our rise. It’s the time that we should take our place. The future is all about you.” That’s the future you leave for your children and their children. No America!

The Obama health care proposal will force insurers to hire a lot of bureaucrats to do paperwork” at a time when administrative costs already account for 31% of existing health care costs in the U.S. The more government tells insurers what to do, the more insurance costs. U.S. residents are forced by states to buy insurance that covers things they don’t need. The McCain proposal, which involves increasing market competition to drive down prices is a lot better than more government mandates of the kind that have made health care so much more expensive than it has to be. A health maintenance organization (HMO) is a type of managed care organization (MCO) that provides a form of health care coverage in the United States that is fulfilled through hospitals, doctors, and other providers with which the HMO has a contract. The Health Maintenance Organization Act of 1973 required employers with 25 or more employees to offer federally certified HMO options.[1] Unlike traditional indemnity insurance, an HMO covers only care rendered by those doctors and other professionals who have agreed to treat patients in accordance with the HMO’s guidelines and restrictions in exchange for a steady stream of customers. The earliest form of HMOs can be seen in a number of prepaid health plans. In 1910, the Western Clinic in Tacoma, Washington offered lumber mill owners and their employees certain medical services from its providers for a premium of $0.50 per member per month. This is considered by some to be the first example of an HMO. However, Ross-Loos Medical Group, established in 1929, is considered to be the first HMO in the United States; it was headquartered in Los Angeles and initially provided services for Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (DWP) and Los Angeles County employees. Approximately 500 DWP employees enrolled at a cost of $1.50 each per month. Within a year, the Los Angeles Fire Department signed up, then the Los Angeles Police Department, then the Southern California Telephone Company, (now at&t) and more. By 1951, enrollment stood at 35,000 and included teachers, county and city employees. In 1982 through the merger of the Insurance Company of North America (INA) founded in 1792 and Connecticut General (CG) founded in 1865 came together to become CIGNA. Ross-Loos Medical Group, became now known as CIGNA HealthCare. Also in 1929 Dr. Michael Shadid created a health plan in Elk City, Oklahoma in which farmers bought shares for $50 to raise the money to build a hospital. The medical community did not like this arrangement and threatened to suspend Shadid’s licence. The Farmer’s Union took control of the hospital and the health plan in 1934. Also in 1929, Baylor Hospital provided approximately 1,500 teachers with prepaid care. This was the origin of Blue Cross. Around 1939, state medical societies created Blue Shield plans to cover physician services, as Blue Cross covered only hospital services. These prepaid plans burgeoned during the Great Depression as a method for providers to ensure constant and steady revenue. In 1970, the number of HMOs declined to less than 40. Paul Ellwood, often called the “father” of the HMO, began having discussions with what is today the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that led to the enactment of the Health Maintenance Organization Act of 1973. This act had three main provisions: Grants and loans were provided to plan, start, or expand an HMO Certain state-imposed restrictions on HMOs were removed if the HMOs were federally certified Employers with 25 or more employees were required to offer federally certified HMO options alongside indemnity upon request This last provision, called the dual choice provision, was the most important, as it gave HMOs access to the critical employer-based market that had often been blocked in the past. The federal government was slow to issue regulations and certify plans until 1977, when HMOs began to grow rapidly. The dual choice provision expired in 1995. In 1971, Dr. Gordon K MacLeod MD developed and became the director of the United States’ first federal Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) program. He was recruited by Elliot Richardson, former secretary of the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare.
