Obama blasts McCain’s “erratic and uncertain leadership”

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama told a cheering Dayton crowd today, Oct. 9, that the nation can’t afford Republican John McCain’s “erratic and uncertain leadership” in uncertain times

Obama said that McCain’s plan to direct the Treasury Secretary to have the government buy up bad mortgages would hurt taxpayers and reward irresponsible lenders.

He said that the plan McCain announced Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the presidential debate in Nashville wasn’t really a new one. The problem is the way McCain would carry it out, Obama said.

“Senator McCain actually wants the government to pay the full face value of mortgages on the books,” he said at the rally at Fifth Third Field. The Obama campaign estimated the crowd at 8,500.

Using more than $300 billion like this would reward Wall Street greed and irresponsibility and wouldn’t change the behavior that caused the crisis, said Obama.

McCain at first proposed that the government buy the mortgages at marked down rates and then shifted positions, Obama said.

“Well, I don’t think we can afford that kind of erratic and uncertain leadership in these uncertain times,” said Obama. He promised to be a steady leader.

“… that’s why im running for President of the United States of America,” he said.

The McCain campaign lashed back.

“John McCain’s homeownership resurgence plan represents absolutely no new expense to the taxpayer, but simply refocuses priorities to more directly assist the homeowners who are hurting instead of greed on Wall Street,” Tucker Bounds, McCain-Palin campaign spokesman said in a prepared statement.

Bounds said it was the latest example of Obama “putting politics above the national interest.”

Despite his blasts at McCain, Obama struck an upbeat note with the crowd gathered under a sunny blue sky.

He said that despite uncertain times, Americans will pull together with courage and innovation to create new jobs in Dayton and across the country. Together, we cannot fail, he said. He asked his supporters to renew their efforts to win the election.

“…if you want an economy that rewards work, and that works for Main Street and Wall Street, if you want tax relief for the middle class and millions of new jobs, if you want health care you can afford and education that helps your kids compete, then I ask you to knock on some doors, make some calls, talk to your neighbors, and give me your vote on Nov 4th. And if you do, I promise you - we will win Ohio, we will win this election, and then you and I - together - will change this country and change this world. Thank you, God bless you, and may God bless America,” he said.

From Dayton, Obama headed out about 2 p.m. for Cincinnati and another rally before ending the day at a rally in Portsmouth in Scioto County in Ohio’s Appalachian region.

Obama fared poorly in Scioto County and the rest of Appalachia in the Ohio Democratic primary which Hillary Clinton won.

Clinton got more than 80 percent of the vote in Scioto County. Gov. Ted Strickland, who’s from Duck Run not far from Portsmouth, has said it’s important for Obama to make his appeal personally before the conservative and moderate Democrats in the region whose support will be critical in the general election. Strickland was with Obama in Dayton and is expected to be with him in Portsmouth.

On Friday Obama will campaign in Chillicothe in Ross County and Columbus before heading for Pennsylvania, another battleground state. Chillicothe also is in Appalahcia and Sen. Clinton won Ross County in the Democratic primary with nearly 70 percent of the vote.

To ??? I own a business in Dayton and employ a fair share of individuals like yourself. I do not steal from the poor, I can assure you. The combination of hard work from dedicated employees and a little seed money over 40 years ago provides a better life for all of us. Our real problem is not the greed of wall street, it is the thieves in the Democrat Congress. Investigate the WSJ this morning and discover a little about Chris Dodd. His special deal on his mortgage is something none of us can get. And how about Barney Frank. Just a couple of months ago he claimed that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were just fine going forward. This whole mess is about one thing….buying votes by forcing banks to take loans that no one in their right mind would accept in sane times. Now we are all paying for their “benovelence”. Wake up America, your country is being eroded right under your nose. Eric

Palin accused Obama and Biden of waving the white flag of surrender in Iraq because they want to bring our brave volunteer soldier home and stop the murder, slauter, and butchering of our brave troops and innocent Iraqi men women and children numbering into the thousands and thousands and thousands. The white flag of surender was waved when Cheney/Bush and company pulled our troops out of Afghanistan - with the terrorists in tow before the mission was accomplished. Just get the scum bag who was responsible for 9/11. Taking them into a country that had nothing to do with 9/11 with lies and deceit. Adding insult to Americans Cheney/Bush regime used our tax dollars and Government planes to fly bin Laudens family members out of the country on 9/12 in the early morning hours.Who is sleeping with whom???Yes our troops are volunteers - but let them try to resign like Bubba done with his stint in the Texas National Guard. I’ve learned one fact for sure——-If your Daddy has money and friends with money then any village idiot can become President of our country. Not through the electorate process - just stack the courts and they will install them in office. Bottom line —YOUR VOTE IS WORTHLESS IF THE CROOKS WANT A PARTICULAR WORTHLESS - STUPID - COWARDLY - IGNORANT JERK TO BE PUT IN OFFICE. GO OBAMA

Hey ???? How many poor people have provided you with a job. Class envy is the Democrat strategy. Divide and conquer. Create the entitlement society which is forever indebted to the government. Channel your anger with the “rich” to get an education. Scholarship money for those without means is there for the taking if you get off your couch.

The fact is 9/11 & Katrina were under Bush’s watch and it does not matter if these plans took years or months to plan. He was the President at that time. If Gore would have been President…it would have been his problem. I don’t want the old man McCain in office due to his VP Palin. Anyhow, he is an old bitter man. He sold himself out the wealthy.

how could you possibly hint that President Bush is responsible for 9/11. that attack took years to plan and he had only been in office for 9 months. i’m sure us getting attacked on our land forcing us to go to war has nothing to do with the deficit either. we should have just let it go and see if they would have attacked again i guess. i’m sure thats what you wanted!!!! President Bush also called Katrina and said “please come through New Orleans and destroy it.”

Hey, No To McCain: I am not paid by the Mc Cain campaign. I am a regular citizen of Dayton that is genuinely concerned about full disclosure. Most mass media outlets have purposely chosen to ignore the news that may be damaging to their candidates campaign. Have you listened to Keith Oberman or “tingly legs” Chris Matthews? It is really amazing to see the double standard that most Obama supporters demonstrate. It’s OK to attack Sarah Palin, her children and family, but you had better not question the veracity and truthfulness of the “annointed one”. The Democrats claim to be the inclusive party that is tolerant….until someone disagrees with you. You are showing your true colors.

Most people do not agree with their minister 100%. And, as time goes by, one tends to change personally and spiritually. Obama’s walk in christianity is not the same as when he first met Rev. Wright. I am the same age as Obama and remember the incident with Ayers, when I was 8 or 9 years old. Obviously the legal system and society has forgiven Ayers. All except for the republicans, of course. They are using this as an attack method. Bush was an alcoholic and drug user. And has a past DWI conviction but, was given a pass. Ted Haggard, former head of the evangelicals, had a problem with male prostitutes and drugs. And, this was the guy that was swaying votes for republicans. Think of the criminals within the Bush administration. Or Iran/contra during the Reagan administration. Or, Watergate. Then, there are the fundamentalist Christian televangelists that endorsed Bush. Why? for donations of course. And by the way, Hagee, Rod Parsley and others are nothing more than fascists. They actually believe in creating a theocracy in our country. A fascist theocracy.

Tape Discovered of Obama Listening to Rev. Wright Sermon Here. Okay…I use the word “discovered” a bit loosely—the way one might “discover” a Big Mac at McDonald’s. But now that I have your attention, the point is that most voters don’t have a clue that Obama writes in his memoir that the very first time he attended Trinity United Church, he heard Rev. Wright rant that “white folks’ greed runs a world in need.” As you may recall, Obama said, following Rev. Wright’s infamous press club appearance in April, that “The person I saw yesterday was not the person that I met 20 years ago.” The racist Rev. Wright quote included in Dreams from My Father contradicts this statement. While some bloggers and opinion journalists were quick to draw attention to this passage in Dreams from My Father shortly after the Wright story broke in March, this quote was never reported on NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, or PBS, according to Nexis. I bring attention to this fact because McCain and Palin are saying that Obama’s statements about his relationship with Bill Ayers call into question Obama’s judgment and truthfulness. While Obama has misrepresented his relationship with Ayers and never told the whole truth about that relationship (when did Obama learn that Ayers was an unrepentant domestic terrorist, and what did he say to Ayers about it?), I don’t expect a smoking gun to emerge proving that Obama is lying about Ayers. We’re never going to find a picture of Obama reading a newspaper story about Ayers’s terrorism. On the other hand, in Dreams from My Father—an audio version of which may be purchased for $17.13—we have Obama’s recollection of listening to a radical Rev. Wright sermon, which proves the Rev. Wright he got to know 20 years ago was strikingly similar to the Rev. Wright of those more infamous sermons—fodder, perhaps, for a campaign ad. Would McCain be accused of flip-flopping if he were to bring up Wright? Sure, but Obama flip-flopped on the relevance of the Keating scandal. McCain can always point out that Hillary Clinton and Obama himself have said that Wright is a legitimate issue, and the DNC went after McCain merely for being endorsed by John Hagee. The press of course will say that it is racist to point out that Obama listened to Rev. Wright make racist remarks in the first sermon he ever attended. But most people realize that if McCain had chosen a racist pastor to be his mentor for 20 years, it wouldn’t make any one a racist to point that out. Exit quotation: “There are reasons not to talk about Ayers, Wright, Khalidi, etc. — not to talk about Obama and radicalism. But there are reasons for doing so, too. And I ask this: If not now, when? (If not us, who?!) After November 4, it will be too late. Isn’t now the time to talk about it, discuss it, air it? Let Obama address it? What are campaigns for?”

Remember back in 1992 and 1996 when Ohio went for Clinton? Wasn’t that bad a time was it? Remember 2000 Ohio helped elect Bush? Seems like most everything has gone downhill since then. Who is responsible for 9/11? Who is responsible for the disasters in Iraq, Afghanistan, and New Orleans? Who is responsible for the 6 trillion dollar debt over the last 8 years? Who is responsible for the financial and stock market collapse? What advantage has electing Republicans to Washington given Ohio? Could it be you might be wrong again?

To all those who fear socialism so much. Are you aware what socialism is. I truly believe you throw the term around without full knowledge of what you are saying. Have you been listening and watching one of the greatest apocalyptic events to occur in the financial world and you say you fear socialism. My friends we have just witnessed it being implemented before your very eyes. Let me recap: 1.) Bear Stearns buyout by JP Morgan with a Federal Loan via our friend Fed Chairman Bernanke in March. 2.) Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac seized by you guessed it Uncle Sam. 3.) AIG extended more of Bernanke bearing gifts to the tune of 117 billion dollars. 4.) 800 billion dollar bailout for Wall Street bankers. 5.) Paulson wants to buy bank investments and you guessed it again with Fed money. This is socialism at its finest. Then you get on this site and complain, “I don’t want socialism with Obama. Excuse me, but pull your head out of your backside and wise up because it’s here to stay for some time. Guess What? Obama isn’t even the President of the United States.

If McCain actually has “professional bloggers”, they can’t even equal the local bloggers that put them in their place. McCain is losing. So, his only option is to go into attack mode. And, use the republican strategy of; if you use lies enough, people will believe the lies. A small percentage of people may fall for the lies, as they did with Bush. But, most Americans know that McCain is using the same people Bush used in ‘04 and will continue the Bush agenda. The republicans failed our country and the do not deserve a second chance. And, as the so-called “McCain professional bloggers” have shown, they (McCain professional bloggers) are not even good liars. We in Ohio see through their lies.

Obama has been properly vetted for two years. If you haven’t been paying attention until now it is your own fault. For those that don’t know McCain pays people to put outrageously negative comments on newspaper blogs through out the county. Amazing how most of the comments were fairly calm for or against either candidate until after Obama left the rally.

To Mr. Sowell and nonsense, thank you for the sane critique of this campaign where Obama is concerned. One glaring fact is that so many of his supporters have not been willing to properly vet this candidate the way he should have been. I am not a supporter of either of the candiates and do not know who I will vote for. Everyone who is legally registered to vote has the right to choose the candidate they wish or to not even vote at all. I have not tried to persuade anyone to vote as I think they should, but have exercised my right to be informed and have spent many hours researching the issues, candidates and thinking critically for myself. I have caught a lot of “flack” from Obama supporters. Most have been from people who know little or nothing about the political process or even how the government works whether local, state or federal. I love the fact that so many young people are getting involved in the campaigns but I would urge and caution that they be informed and not be persuaded by crowd mentality when they make their choices. We have the internet now and can get so much information, good and bad to help us make a consious choice.

Do you know what Barack Hussien and Osama Bin Laden have in common? They both have friends that have bombed The Pentagon. Hussiens friend Ayers said “he didn’t do enough” (bombing/killing) while in the “Weathermen” in the 60’s/70’s. Ayers “advised” Barack Hussien when your “Fuerher” was “community activist” in Chicago. I agree that this is a man about whom we virtually know nothing..politically that is. All the other things are now coming to light. What I’ve also been reading is that Obama is a Socialist, pushing for a Socialist country and government. In the economic times we have right now, who wants a President has has DONE NOTHING..except be afiliated with ACORN which is directly associated with the financial debacle we’re facing. Don’t get me wrong. McCain doesn’t give me a warm and fuzzy either. I have to ask..of a country THIS size, with its many good and honest people, how is it we end up having to pick between Obama and McCain? Dear God! And if Obama wanted to publicly chastize the person who was having the problem with the sound system, then ask yourself is THIS the kind of Leader this country wants? I’m disgusted with our choices. There was trouble with the sound system there and some in the audience were having trouble hearing him. Obama made a statement that was totally uncalled for. He said (as close as I can remember word for word), ‘Lets get that sound person and bring him up here. Let’s show everyone who is responsible for my bad sound system’. I believe that would be a totally uncalled for ‘tar and feathering’, not to forget mentioning humiliation and charged guilty without checking for faulty manufacturing or other malfunction issues. I am extremely concerned about the upcoming election. The manner in which a single individual has risen to such popularity without serious vetting is disturbing. Senator Obama has strategically conducted his campaign to deflect and avoid explanations of personal associations that seriously bring into question his judgment and his political tendencies. It has long been said that the company you keep is an indication of your character. It is significantly revealing that Senator Obama is repeatedly in contact with individuals that express ideas that are contrary to the views of mainstream America. First it was Rev, Wright. This religious leader, which Sen. Obama has associated with for more than 20 years, has been caught on video espousing poisonous and racial views that cause a voter to pause and wonder if these views and ideas are a part of Sen. Obama thought process. Recall the statements he and his wife have made regarding their disappointment in American, even though they have been the beneficiary of the finest education that this country has to offer and are obviously not suffering any need. Bill Ayers, the original American Terrorist Bomber and originator of the 1960’s Weather Underground is another association that needs further investigation. This is not just a case of a casual acquaintance, this is a relationship that involved financial support of Mr. Ayers by Sen. Obama in a number of Mr. Ayers education pursuits. This financial support, of an individual that is unrepentant about his bombing and killings of citizens and police, is troubling and brings into question Sen. Obama’s moral character. Sen. Obama sidesteps the issue by attributing Mr. Ayers offences to “despicable acts 40 years ago when I was eight years old”. How does that explanation excuse his association with a radical extremist that openly says that he wished he could have done more damage during his bombings in the 60’s. Be clear, Sen. Obama is not responsible for the past actions of Bill Ayers, however, and I repeat, it has long been a measure of your character by the company you keep. Why is this any less valid today than it has been in the past. Character matters. When involved in a job interview, a background check is generally part of a candidates evaluation. If the candidate has been found to be associated with shady or criminal elements, does this not raise a red flag which requires further investigation or disqualification? Why is this different with presidential campaigns. Why is this line of questioning characterized as “mud slinging”. Could it be that Sen. Obama has something to hide? What other involvement with Kenyan politics and the support of officials suspected to be friendly with radical Muslim terrorists is lurking around the corner. Keep your ears to the track! Me thinks that Sen. Obama and his campaign operatives protest too loud. We deserve to know everything about a potential LEADER OF THE FREE WORLD. Demand full transparency.

Who is the real McCain? He probably has serious emotional and mental problems after all those years as a POW. This could explain his irrational behavior. He certainly had past problems with unethical and immoral activities. Cheating on his first wife and Keating 5 included. There are still questions about Iran/Contra and meetings with a mobster. He probably is not a “christian” and, only uses the moniker for votes. His wife is a former drug addict. The only stability he has now is the fact he probably can’t cheat on his current wife due to impotence and, he is getting too old to make decisions. Who is the “real” McCain?

No. The only religion he practices is Obamanism. Whatever it takes to move up the ladder. He most certainly isn’t Christian. To say that he is is an insult to real Christians everywhere. WWJD? Would Jesus say that “if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby.” Would Jesus support allowing abortion survivors being allowed to die in the trash? If only there was any evidence at all that Obama supported gun rights. He endorsed the DC gun ban by saying it was Constitutional. When running for the Illinois State Senate he answered yes on a questionnaire to the question if he would ban handguns, owning or manufacturing! While in the State Senate when asked if he supported gun licensing he simply said he didn’t think he could get it done. Do you really think that means he was against the idea? From his book, The Audacity of Hope, “I believe in keeping guns out of our inner cities”. This is a very dangerous individual. Misleading the public about his ardent positions on gun control is just plain wrong.

I have learned to accept the fact that he has ties with a known terrorist, that he refuses to pledge allegiance to our great flag. That he belives by taxing corporations more that this will not tricle down to the consumer and or cause lay offs and move businesses out of our country. Since when has corporate america ever taken a hit, Never. I must also forget the fact that he is anti law enforcement/military, and lets not forget that he worshipped for twenty years under REV. Wright who I quote said “f—-k america. Why would you show up every week to hear this man speak if you did not agree and/or were moved by his beliefs. Lets not forget 9/11 and the fact Obama is or was studying muslim beliefs. I must also give tremendous credit for writing a few letters while he was in Washington. I have also concluded that as a good american that I should vote for him because he is african american and the white man has held him down for to long. God gave me a brain to think and therefore I will use that brain when i vote for MCCain…..YES Vote Mccain…..Lets not forget his plan to give MED insurance to all…wonder who’s going to pay for that, doesn’t the less fortunate already get 100% medical benefits. I’m not saying they do not need it, that is the hard working lower class who is currently in a bad position, thos of you who take advantage of the system deserve to be booted off public asistance save it for the ones who need it. I’m confident OBAMA will correct this….LOLOLOL, can’t wait to see you democrats complain about Obama’s price tags…you’ll be paying it too….

This country was founded on racism and sexism. To say it doesn’t exist today is ridiculous. As a white woman, I consistantly have to “prove” my worth by working twice as hard as incompetent white males. Yet, the glass ceiling still exists. Racism is still rampant in this country, we just don’t talk about it. Our prisons, schools and urban areas are proof of that. I’m tired of waiting for equality. As a decorated Gulf War Veteran, I’m DEMANDING equality.

Here’s food for thought: If Obama wins and the Dems keep the House and Senate, we will likely see a steady slide to the type of socialism we see in Canada, France, and Germany. You may say, What’s wrong with that? Well, in my view, the world will become boring, lines will become long, unemployment will go up, entrepreneurism will die, excellence will dissapear, charity will dry up, and we will become robotic automotans. Socialism will pull the best of us down. Only a free market and a capitalist society, warts and all, can reach down and pull people up. I am not saying vote for McCain, but I do fear for a country run by Democrats. Aren’t most Ohio cities run by socialist Democrats? Take a look around and see if socialism is what we want. America has succeeded by people doing and giving, not taking and whining.

leslie, Direct from Barack Obama website under ” Issues/Sportsmen/Protect Gun Rights: Millions of hunters and shooters own and use guns each year. Barack Obama believes the Second Amendment creates and individual right, and he respects the Constitutional Rights of Americans to bear arms. He will protect the rights of hunters and other law-abiding Americans to purchase, own, transport, and use guns.” That said, the key is Obama was a constitutional professor so he supports gun rights for law abiding citizens.

I was also at the rally today and I was very impressed with Obama’s speech to the crowd because I was concerned about how I am going to afford to send my daughter to college in four years and Obama has put my mind at ease. I really haven’t heard much from McCain in the debates about this issue. I am more motivated to get Obama elected to the presidency and I am going to do whatever I can to make it happen because this country needs a change.

Obama is a Trojan Horse folks. He gets in and all his radical associations infiltrate the government. He doesn’t have the experience no matter where his degree came from. Most of his time in the Senate has been spent running for president. He votes “present” rather than taking a stand on an issue. Sorry, you can’t simply be “present” when you’re staring down Iran, Venezuela, Russia, China, etc. Get him away from a script and a teleprompter and he’s lost. Just because Ayers did these deeds when Obama was 8 means he can not be held accountable for his association with the man. Did he distance himself once he knew of his history. It appears the answer is “no”. Just like sitting in Rev. Wright’s church for 20 years. He’s bad for our great country.

Seriously people, it’s ridicules how blind some people are. I know I will get tons of ‘bad’ responses cause I spoke up and said white and black in this but it’s the black people in this country that has made everything so difficult when it comes to free speech!!! You people are so cynical that if a REAL persons runs for office you assume they’re in it for themselves. Thus if Sarah Palin winks or talks like a real person instead of like a career politician (can you say “Biden”?), you think she’s trying to be insincere or is selling snake oil. Yeah, and Biden thinks there was TV when FDR was president. Bowhunters for Sarah!!!!! You BETCHA! If you don’t like her winking or her speech, that’s pretty damn petty if you ask me. Because of McCain and Palin, with their hate filled rallies, their honor and dignity are being erased. McCain is losing this election by his own accord. People are turned off by hate and pseudo-racism. McCain hobbled around at the last debate. He looked like a decrepit old man. Palin is too ditzy. They are only capable of inspiring their base, hate groups and evangelicals. Of course, evangelicals would vote for Hitler, if he were anti-abortion. The republicans had their chance and, in the process, did a great deal of damage. The republicans do not deserve another chance. Obama and Biden are the leaders that we need.

Here comes the Illinois Senator to another stadium filled full of adoring followers. Now Sen. Obama can have a successful visit by bashing the GOP and making loads of promises that will be impossible to fulfill. Maybe we should have Paris Hilton tell him that the nation is financially challenged and we need some straight talk. As Sen. McCain would say, we have to do better than to hope for change, we have to have something that helps the people now. Leslie, your posts are always thoughtful and informative. I know that the Obama supporters do not want you to confuse them with the facts and the most dreaded of all, “the record” of both candidates. In the reality of an Obama Administration, there will be a lot of excuses why he does not follow through with most of his empty promises. And do our Ohio citizens (I guess we can’t be friends now) really think Sen. Obama will work well with the Congress, a place he has spent little time and has “no political capital.” Besides this Do Nothing Dem Congress has a rating in the dumpster anyway. I find the attacks on Cindy McCain interesting after she has made over 50 humanitarian missions and is an adoptive mother. Amazing! And let us not forget Sen. Obama’s famous line, I would no more disown Rev. Wright than I would my white grandmother and when the polls were down away from Sen. Obama, both got thrown under the bus. Given his quick rise to politics, with no proven record of successful legislation, and lack of clarify regarding his association, I believe that Sen. Obama is the “uncertain” leader. We do know Sen. McCain has served this country first throughout his professional life. Sen. Obama and his policies are just too risky. McCain/Palin in 2008!

Maria of Huber is correct. White people are still treated as the privilaged class and there are many white people (the GOP) who want to keep it that way. By the way, affirmative action only masks the real problem. The real problem is that our poorer communities, where many African-Americans live, don’t get the same access to education, health care, etc. as other people. God forbid someone should come along like Obama and level the field! Obama for American, an Equal America, finally!

We’ll see what Obama can do when it come to something more substantive than speeches. All of you who blame Bush are wrong. He can’t pass any legislation without Congress. Maybe none of you made it through high school Government Class?! Sorry but the President has become nothing more than the person we blame for EVERYTHING in our lives, and that’s SO wrong. You’ll all find that out when NoBama wins and he realizes that there is no tree on which money grows and business (yeah, the Dems would have you believe business is the source of all EVIL!) pays the price. Of course they’ll pass this on by hiring fewer people (jobs?) and moving elsewhere because tax rates in the US of A are too high. Of course none of you idiots know anyone who is aware of the truth to this because you all are in the lower class which is where NoBama gets his votes: those who suck at the teat of the Public Dole. Obama is the man we need in the White House. He will provide steady leadership, and has the right plan on all the key issues - economy, healthcare, foreign policy, education, etc. etc. McCain’s speeches are all about “I know how to do” this and that and the other, Obama’s are all about “We can do” this and that together. We are one nation, and we ought to work together instead of fueling hatred and bigotry. The McCain campaign is disgusting. John McCain has done some great service for our nation, but I have lost all respect for him with the sleaze oozing from his campaign. Obama is the one we need. Obama is right on every major topic. Obama has maintained a steady hand, a steady message, a steady focus on the issues. That’s what we need in a time of crisis, not some self-proclaimed “maverick” who changes his position and campaign strategy every 24 hours in the news cycle. Don’t believe the lies spewed by the uneducated haters. VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN!

Leslie, Let’s be real! Obama has already said that he deplores the acts of Ayers from the late ’60s/early ’70s when he was only 8 years old. I would be more frightened about Sarah Palin’s relationship with the Alaska Independence Party which Todd Palin was member of until 2002. AIP not only advocates secession from the US their motto is Alaska First! Alaska Always. Their founder is proud of this comment from their web site which claims I am Alaskan and not an American and detests the government of the US! This rhetoric is more dangerous than Ayers beliefs from the anti-Vietnam era as his contact is more recent and she would only be a heartbeat from Whitehouse of a 72 year old man!

The latest from Obama advisors is that when Barack Obama first met Bill Ayers in the 1990s, that Obama wasn’t aware of Ayers’ radical past. Well isn’t that convenient. Did Obama read a newspaper while at Columbia in the 1980s, or bother to listen to people in Chicago who regularly cited Bill Ayers – a prominent figure in Chicago – as a an “ex-radical” and “ex-fugitive.” It should have been “domestic terrorist” but you get my point. Obama’s advisors are lying. Let The Chosen One take the stage and tell us the he didn’t know about Ayers’ past when the friendship began. The fact of the matter is this … when Barack Obama was being introduced into the political culture in Chicago, he attended a “get-to-know you” event at Bill Ayers’ house. Even if we are to believe that Barack Obama had no idea who the guy was, the fact is that he had plenty of years after that to disassociate himself with this man. And yet he chose not to. Sort of like Jeremiah Wright.

It amazes me that the voting public does not do their home work – what makes you think that McCain/Palin policy is any different from that of Bush/Cheney? I would not want a man that is so vain that he had an affair on his first wife because of a disfiguring accident, where was the support and dedication there ladies? He would be our oldest and first divorced president – NO THANK YOU!. As for Palin – she speaks for her self –talking points and no substance. The McCain camp thinks very little of women to have chosen her – attractive but not an educated clue! Look at Alaska, when was the last time they where on the mortgage foreclosure list? As an American in-sighting hate and violence is not becoming – I guess that’s what she learned in boot camp of foreign and domestic policy – whew. If they can’t defeat Obama on the issues then invoke fear, Ohio you know what happened when we voted our fears and not our aspirations – do we need more of the same – NOT. McCain’s mortgage bailout is not his own original idea as he stated. This was discussed when the 700 billion bailout was going through Congress. McCain says he wants to buy at face value so the banks can make money on each deal, but he forgot to say the banks will make money. Really they need to negotiated a lower mortgage deal and the bank will lose out and the homeowner still wins.

As a Buckeye who is very proud I am disgusted at the talk of people in this area who don’t take reason into their decision making. Obama is not against gun rights or gun owners. That is a distraction tactic that is used by the Republicans during this election. Obama does not advocate making us a socialist state rather getting people back to understanding our social responsibility and protecting the rights of all to achieve the American Dream. As the son of Puerto Rican parents that came to Ohio to raise 13 children while never making over $9K a year from 1959-1976 I know what it takes to work hard and achieve a college degree from great college like BGSU. After going to school and having a career as Marine Corps officer I am thankful that our country is tolerant of diversity and able to make a name for myself. What Obama advocates is that we need to ensure that we keep that dream alive and ensure that the door of opportunity is not closed to those whom have not made it. McCain has not proven his rational judgement in selecting the most unqualified VP choice ever! I was undecided until McCain made his choice for VP and once he did that he demonstrated that he is more concerned in trying to win an election than to ensure his VP is qualified to step in as President. Gov. Palin is the most underqualified candidate ever. She knows very little about the rest of this country and even less about the military and foreign affairs! So Stand Up Ohio and understand that Obama is the only candidate that has plan which he has put out there for everyone to read. He has provided greater details that any plan that McCain has and McCain continues be erratic.

It is frustrating that no matter how many facts come out about Obama, his supporters don’t want to listen or see the truth. They insist they are lies. What because Obama says so. You ask for facts, we give them to you and you still say not true. McCain has been in the whitehouse for a long time. You know all about him, the good the bad. There is nothing hidden. But Obama is still hidden and does everything he can to stifle anything that comes to light. That gives me concern. Open your eyes and ears. Listen and see. People aren’t excited about McCain. We get that we understand that, we aren’t either. But I would rather have McCain than put somebody in as President that was mentored by anti-Americans. You know his mother leaned that way to. This is not unusual we had it in the 60s. Jane Fonda leaned that way. But is that really the change you want. Are you so desparate you will risk that maybe he doesn’t lean that way? What if he is anti-America? What will you say then or you will be blind to it. You know once it happens there is noone to give us back the freedom we had. If Obama is against all that America stands for and he becomes our President I wonder what life will be like for my children and their children. People tell me that can’t happen we have systems in place, but if I am to believe that then how did Bush to all these terrible things to our country the last 8 years. I’m not afraid of change, but I am afraid of losing America. I’m not comfortable and Obama is hiding stuff from us.
