‘Watchmen’ movie may never get watched

That really cool looking Watchmen movie (based on a graphic novel series by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons) due out on March 6 might never see the light of day.

What happened? Fox sued Warner Bros. claiming they had distribution rights to the film and the judge ruled in their favor.

What does this mean? It’s too soon to tell. Fox and Warner Bros. will more than likely come up with some sort of deal so the release of the film will go unhindered. It is possible, however, they won’t reach an agreement and Fox could ax the movie entirely, preventing its release. It’s an extreme situation.

If anything delays/kills the film’s release or changes the movie in anyway, devoted fans of the graphic novel will be rioting in the street … wait, they’re comic book geeks, they probably don’t have the energy to leave there house to go march in the street about anything. They’ll probably just whine endlessly on message boards. I should know, I’m a comic book geek.

If you know nothing about the graphic novel (like me), you should check out the newest trailer for Watchmen to see why people are so excited for the movie’s release:

Are you excited for Watchmen? What do you think the outcome will be in the dispute between Fox and Warner Bros.? Will Fox just ask for a share of the profits? Or will Warner Bros. have to hand the whole movie over to Fox who may make cuts to the film and/or change aspects of the film? Will Warner try to appeal the judge’s ruling, thereby delaying the movies release?
