Batman 3 rumor: Rachel Weisz as Catwoman?

Ted Casablanca at Eonline.com is reporting that inside sources at Warner Bros. have leaked that Rachel Weisz is being considered for the role of Catwoman the third Batman film.
I think she’d be great, don’t you? I would much rather see her play the feline nemesis than Angelina Jolie. I don’t want Johnny Depp playing the Riddler either. All these rumors and speculations about Jolie and Depp are just people attaching the big-name celebrities to a big movie. It happens all the time.
We should be able to tell from the casting in the first two Batman films that they aren’t interested in the ‘it’ celebs for rolls that they are ‘perfect’ for. Granted, Heath Ledger is a big-name celebrity, but no one would have ever expected him to be cast as the Joker … but look at what a great job he did.
To reiterate, don’t expect the expected when it comes to casting.
Eonline.com goes on to report that Christopher Nolan will definitely be returning as director, but who didn’t see that coming? With the huge success of the second film, Warner would be crazy not to give him whatever he wants to stay with the franchise.

Didn’t “it” names gurantee the demise of the first franchise (plus bad plots, writing etc). Tommy lee Jones, Jim Carrey, Arnold, M Pfieffer, Kilmer, Kidman, etc etc. Nolan has more control then ever before. Big names and Hollywood didn’t save Insomnia’s goofy ending— I believe the last time he was forced to relinquish control. Instead we get a 1970 “A-lister” like Michael Caine used wisely. Scarecrow wasn’t exactly a mainstream villian either. Although his writing could save the Riddler redo. Let’s let him reinventt Guy Pierce as the Riddler and Joe Pantalano as a crooked cop on Gordon’s force. Batman meets Memento.By ron

the UK press was reporting over the weekend that Eddie Murphy is being considered for the Riddler… that would be cool… now if the next movie is 20 minutes shorter than the last two, it might actually be great…By Brian

I don’t think Catwoman is necessary. Remember Halle Berry’s moronic take on her??? I do think that Michael C Hall from “Dexter” should be The Riddler. That would be an outstanding choice.
