Your favorite movies of the year

We’re doing our best to do something special for the end-of-year extravaganza known as Top 10 lists, the Oscars, etc. Until then, we want to hear from you!

  • What were your favorite movies this year?
  • What were the best performances of 2005?
  • What 2005 movies that haven’t come to Dayton are you looking forward to most?

Feel free to answer these questions in any form you like: List ‘em off, rank ‘em, anything.

My favorite movie of the year was The Constant Gardener. It was so much better than I was afraid it was going to be and it has really stuck with me over the months since I’ve seen it. I think Ralph Fiennes did an excellent job- far more emotional and understated than Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s Oscar-bait performance in Capote.

King Kong has to be my favorite movie of 2005. There were other great ones but for pure entertainment value I liked Kong the best.
