The city of Monroe has announced anyone who needs a welfare check for residents who are elderly, sick or have special needs and would like for a representative of the city to check on them may call (513) 539-9234. Someone will be sent.

The Little Art Theatre in Yellow Springs is offering a free showing of the 1945 film noir classic, "Detour," as a tribute to actress Ann Savage, who died on Christmas Day. The screening will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at the theater, located at 247 Xenia Avenue (Ohio 68) in Yellow Springs. "Detour," directed by Edgar G. Ulmer, is a masterpiece of film noir: Roger Ebert called it one of the all-time greats — this is an opportunity not to be missed. More »
