Cheer uniform issue

Monroe Hornets cheerleaders on Friday, Aug. 22, were told during a pep rally that they would not be able to wear their uniforms to school because they violate the district’s dress code. The policy was clarified this year to require that the bottoms of shorts and skirts be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee.
The Monroe squad, parents and educators have had an influx of media attention as a number of national media outlets decided to pick up this story. School leaders announced yesterday the cheerleaders must follow the rules like everyone else and may wear the uniform tops with other types of appropriate bottom clothing in order to meet school requirements. They have other options of clothing that identify them as cheerleaders.
We had all kinds of comments on this issue yesterday. What are your thoughts on the outcome?

An update on this story will appear in the Friday, Aug. 29 issue of The Middletown Journal.

Call it comfort food, gourmet style. From crab raviolis with vanilla lobster sauce, to a hand-cut and brined pork chop served with a fig jam, to a simply "Big-Ass Cake" that's a chocolate lover's dream, Amelia's has the potential to become a destination restaurant — worth the drive to Bellbrook.
