A report on the former Lemon-Monroe High School

Earlier this summer, the Monroe Local Schools Board of Education hired a northern Ohio architect firm to conduct a facilities review of the former Lemon-Monroe High School to determine if the building can be renovated to house students. Dimaio Architects, an Ohio School Facilities Commission architecture firm, analyzed the entire building over three days. The firm was asked to report back to the board after addressing two questions: if the the building can be renovated, how much will it cost to make it an elementary building for 1,300 children and how much will it cost to make it into a middle school for 1,300 children. From 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 10, in the Monroe Jr/Sr High School Auditorium, the architects will present their findings from the review. After the meeting, the board plans to hold a series of focus group meetings to gather community input to determine how to address its continuing growth in the district. The district’s Yankee Road building is at capacity and Monroe Primary is near capacity now housing pre-K-2 graders. The board is encouraging district voters to attend the facilities review meeting and

at least one focus group meeting to voice your ideas and thoughts. Because district officials say they must make decisions about facilities within the next several months.

Amelia's Bistro, Bellbrook, restaurant review [review]

Call it comfort food, gourmet style. From crab raviolis with vanilla lobster sauce, to a hand-cut and brined pork chop served with a fig jam, to a simply "Big-Ass Cake" that's a chocolate lover's dream, Amelia's has the potential to become a destination restaurant — worth the drive to Bellbrook.
