Honoring a ‘Creep’ and more weekend bar events
Have a spooky good time honoring the memory of a Dayton icon or check out one of these other great events going on at Dayton bars this weekend.
Foy’s Halloween stores and The FreakShow Deluxe carnival-style sideshow are throwing a spooky party fit for the late Dr. Creep.
Dr. Creep, also known as Barry Hobart, died Jan. 14 at 68. Dr. Creep was a local icon dating back to the ’70s and ’80s when he hosted WKEF-TV Channel 22’s “Shock Theatre” and “Clubhouse 22.”
What better way to honor the beloved horror-host than with a night of sideshow performances, creepy tunes, face painting and “Shock Theatre” on the big screen?
Three of the original four FreakShow Deluxe troupe members, who got their start at PsychoPath Haunted Trail in Xenia back in 2001, will re-unite for the event.
There will be a silent auction, raffle, and items for sale to raise money. All proceeds from the event will benefit Hobart’s family to help with funeral and other expenses.
Where: Club Vex, 101 S. St. Clair St., Dayton
When: Doors open at 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28
The bite: $5 for 18 and up, $3 for 21 and older.
