From ginormous muscles to glow sticks

Some Dayton parties to check out this weekend.

Toughman parties

The Original Toughman Contest is coming to Hara Arena on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 21 and 22, and the official weigh-in party will be at Dixie Cowgirls on Thursday.

They’ll have shot specials and discounted buckets of beer along with the chance to meet the Toughman contestants.

Dixie Cowgirls will also host after-parties both nights of the competition.

If you’re interested in attending the contest, the event begins at 8 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday nights. Reserved seats are $25 in advance and $30 day of show. General admission seats are $15 in advance and $20 day of show. For more information on the Original Toughman Contest, visit toughmancontest.com or call the Hara Box Office at (937) 278-4776.

The bite: No cover

Blackout Party

Vex is turning out the lights and turning up the music for a glow-filled good time this Friday.

The whole place will be illuminated with 100 percent black light, so wear your whites and DayGlo! They’ll be passing out 400 free glow sticks and glow bracelets and will have body painters on hand to create an even more unique look. Special glow wands and other products will be available for sale at the club.

When: 10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21

The bite: $5 for 18 -20, $3 for 21 and older, plus ladies are admitted free before midnight.
