Dayton’s hosting a rock lover’s dream weekend

It’s quite the rock-filled weekend in Dayton. If your favorite band isn’t playing locally this weekend, then check out the bands at these bar best bets and discover a new favorite.

Rock Concert Benefit

“2 Lungs 1 Life” is holding a rock fundraiser at McGuffy’s House of Rock to help with their goal of raising $12,000 for the Great Lakes Lung Transplant Fund in honor of 25-year-old Dustin Madden.

Madden, who has cystic fibrosis, is in need of a double lung transplant.

The Impalaz, DJ JC, No Love Lost and Sizter Machyne will perform.

Where: McGuffy’s House of Rock, 5418 Burkhardt Road, Dayton

When: Doors open at 7 p.m., show at 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17

The bite: $5 for 21 and older, $8 for 18-20.

Classic Rock Night

Carl & The Compensations will turn back the calendar, playing favorites from Pink Floyd, U2, The Pretenders, Bruce Springsteen, Steely Dan, REM, Aretha Franklin, David Bowie, Styx, Led Zeppelin, Elton John, Manfred Mann, Billy Joel, Blondie, The Cars, Tears for Fears, Fleetwood Mac and Aerosmith.

Get there at 8 p.m. for a multi-media performance of Pink Floyd’s classic “The Dark Side Of The Moon” in its entirety.

Dayton Band Playoffs Finals

A great opportunity for lovers of the local rap scene to perform, listen, network and show off their skills. Legitimate Music and Locnez Promotions are hosting Rapper Appreciation Night at Stubbies. Performers will include Mdot Lee, 20 & Sheeno, and Problem Child, plus TWS Crew competitive dance team.

Any amateur rappers who want some stage time can perform two songs. Show up early to get a spot.
