Dayton bars have football fever

Dayton loves football. If the many pigskin-themed events this week are any indication, football fever is in high gear. So whether you root for the Bengals, Browns, Steelers or Colts; and whether you bleed Scarlet and Gray or Maize and Blue, these bar events are especially for you, the fans.

Buckeyes Tailgate at TJ Chumps

Watch OSU take on Indiana this Saturday, and watch it BIG. United Health Solutions is providing a Jumbotron for your viewing pleasure. So bring a lawn chair, but leave the cooler at home. TJ Chumps will serve up all the food and drinks you can handle, plus live music before kickoff.

Where: TJ Chumps, 559 S. Main St., Englewood

When: Doors open at 5 p.m., kickoff is at 7 p.m., Oct. 3

The bite: No cover

Steelers Fan Club at Brixx

Pittsburgh fans, there’s no need to feel adrift in a sea of Bengals and Browns fans. Head to Brixx Ice Company, home of the official Steelers Fan Club, and feel at home on a Sunday afternoon.

Where: Brixx Ice Company, 500 E. First St., Dayton

When: This week the Steelers kickoff is at 8:20 p.m., Oct. 4

The bite: No cover

Magic Jackson at One Eyed Jack’s

After the high school games are over on Friday night, why not head to One Eyed Jack’s for some seasonal beer and music by Magic Jackson, winners of the 2008 Dayton Band Playoffs.

Where: One Eyed Jacks, 2638 Colonel Glenn Hwy., Fairborn

When: 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2

The bite: Free show

More great live music options this weekend including the Dayton Music Fest.

Madden Mondays at Blind Bobs

Why sit home alone and play video games when you can play with all your friends at Blind Bobs, and possibly win some cash. Every Monday night, Bobs is hosting Madden 2010 tournaments. If enough people show up, they’ll have a $25 prize for the winner.

Where: Blind Bob’s, 430 E. Fifth St., Dayton

When: Every Monday night.

The bite: Depends on participation, call (937) 938-6405 for more information.

What else is going on this weekend? Leave us a note and let everyone know.

Plus: Tell us which local sports bar is the best for watching OSU football, and we may swing by and take pictures of the fans there. We’re featuring different bars every week so keep the suggestions coming.

I find it very underserving that you mention 6 teams in youropening paragraph and then you only mention 2 bars that view only 2 teams. last time I checked in english lit if you open a paragraph wi h6 items or examples you explain all 6 in the body and closing paragraph of your message…poor jouralism at its’ finest.

I’m sure any of these large sports bars would be more than happy to put your game on a couple of screens, Steve, no matter what team you cheer for. We simply wanted to bring you a sampling of events going on this weekend.

I went to a new place that has been around a couple of months called the Filling Station, last Sunday to watch games. From 12-7 on Sundays they have 1$ Beers and Half OFF wings and is a cool place to watch the game, we left after the first game, then we came back later that night to watch the late game and it was a blast! They have specials everyday! This place could become my new bar!!
