Where’s the best place to watch the Bucks?
Are you ready for some football?
Sept. 5 marks the official start of the OSU season, followed quickly by the NFL kickoff Sept. 10. Is your bar the place to be on Saturdays or Sundays?
Bar owners: We want to know which bars are offering deals on food or drinks for faithful fans? Which are open special hours for those noon games? Which are banning Michigan games from their flat screens?
Let us know what football specials you’re offering this season, and we may feature your bar on ActiveDayton.com. You can leave a comment here or email us at activedayton@coxohio.com.
Fans: Tell us where the best place in Dayton is to catch a Buckeyes game by leaving a comment or emailing us at activedayton@coxohio.com.

TweetBars giving you reasons to celebrate this holiday weekend
As expected this Labor Day weekend is packed full of things to do around Dayton, and the bars are no exception. We weeded through a ton of events to bring you these best bets sure to keep you pumped from Friday night, to football Saturday, through “I don’t have to work tomorrow!” Sunday.
Mardi Gras Night at South Beach
Now that school’s back in session, Elite Management is getting college night in full swing at South Beach Night Club. Every Friday is Elite College Night and will have a different theme each week. This week is Mardi Gras Night - not sure why they chose Mardi Gras in September, but we love beads and booze any old time. Guys will get beads when they come through the door and the female that collects the most beads wins a cash prize. Plus they’ll have drink specials for everyone all night.
Where: South Beach Night Club, 729 Lyons Road, Centerville
When: 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4
The bite: Call (937) 439-9040 for cover charge information
Ladies night at
This Friday, ladies get in free all night to see the powerpop stylings of Uncle Rico. If you can’t make it Friday, Saturday’s band is Cincinnati’s own new wave comedians Naked Karate Girls.
Where: J.D. Legends, 65 Millard Drive, Franklin
When: 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4
The bite: No cover for ladies; call (937) 746-4950 for other cover charge and ticket information.
Freakshow at Ziggy’s
For a heavy dose of hard rock this Friday, head to Ziggy’s for the mayhem that is Freakshow.
Where: Ziggy’s, 5670 Springboro Pike, Moraine
When: 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4
The bite: Call (937) 643-2200 for cover charge information.
A Day of Rock at BoJangles
Well, first it’s a day of football, when the Buckeyes open the season against Navy at noon. BoJangles offers Happy Hour drink prices and free food during games. Stick around after the action though, because at 8 p.m., National Headcase, Perileyes and Lascivious take the stage for a night of rock.
Where: BoJangles, 1925 South Alex Road, West Carrollton
When: Game starts at noon, music starts at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5
The bite: No cover
If you’re heading to Kettering’s Holiday at Home celebration this weekend - or are just looking for a place to have some “no work tomorrow” drinks on Sunday night - then check out a Lounge Lizards’ favorite, Geez Grill and Pub. Try the nachos or the Buffalo wings. You’ll thank us.

Back to School Bash at Hammerjax
Another College Night kickoff is Wednesday at Hammerjax. Everyone with a college ID gets in free before 11 p.m. for the Back to School Bash. They’ll be holding their second annual “Earn Your Tuition” contest for ladies. They claim anything goes… so we’ll leave that up to your imagination.
