Local group organizes tour of Bourbon Country

If you’ve not been to America’s Bourbon country, this could be a fun way to go.

The WSU Alumni Association is plannning a two-day Kentucky Bourbon Tour - April 24 & 25, 2009.

A couple of years ago, I made the pilgrimage to the land of Bourbon and took the self-guided version of the tour along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, but a guided tour with a group of friends would have been a hoot!

The distilleries on the tour list include Heaven Hill, Maker’s Mark, Buffalo Trace and Woodford Reserve (my personal favorite).

You don’t have to be an alumni to go on the tour.

More information is available by calling Mary Johnson at (937) 775 3659 or by checking out the WSU Alumni Web site.

If you go be sure to tell us all about it!

See all kinds of cans tonight at Brixx [things to do]

Femme Fatale Fitness of Centerville has come up with an attention-getting way to promote food donation. The studio, which offers classes in pole dance, burlesque and "tease-yoga," will present its first playfully named "Cans for Cans" benefit performance at 8:30 p.m. today, Nov. 20, at Brixx Ice Co., 500 E. First St. Admission is five canned or otherwise non-perishable food items, but vouchers benefiting the food bank can also be purchased at the restaurant and bar. The evening will include pole dance, burlesque, live music, darts, cornhole, classic cars, pin-up photo opportunities, makeup and hair demonstrations. More »
