Kid Rock beer coming soon

The Michigan Brewing Co. based out of Webberville, Mich. is saying it will be adding jobs thanks to a new Kid Rock craft beer.

Rock, a Michigan native whose real name is Robert J. Ritchie, recently performed at the 51st annual Grammy Awards.

The Associated Press reports:

The Michigan Brewing Co. plans to invest $7 million in the new product line, which it said will add jobs. On Tuesday, the Michigan Economic Growth Authority approved a nearly $723,00 tax credit over seven years for the company. The village of Webberville also is considering a tax abatement. Michigan Brewing Co. was started in 1995 and sells nearly 20 kinds of craft beer in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, New York, Texas, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Indiana, and Minnesota. It also has begun distilling vodka and other spirits.

The Detroit Free Press reports:

Bobby Mason, the owner-brewer at the Michigan Brewing Co., said he hoped to have the Kid Rock branded beer on the shelves by mid-springtime. The beer’s name, style and pricing are yet to be decided. Kid Rock is working closely with Mason on the design, naming and style of the beer, Mason said. “He’s working on designing the beer, he’s giving me direction, he’s tasting the beers,” Mason said. “It’s his idea, it’s his concept. I’m just working with him to make it happen.” The company plans to invest $7 million in the project, which is expected to create 394 Michigan jobs, including 161 directly by the company.

The real question is, will Kid Rock’s vision for design, naming and style of the new lager be a true premium craft brew or a drink that will appeal more to a domestic Bud, Miller fan?

What do you think it will be like? Any celebrity you’d like to see on a beer label?

The obvious joke is that he’ll fuse two old beers from the 70s and call it his own. Here’s hoping it’s not Pabst Blue Ribbon crossed with Miller High Life. As for a celebrity on the label, I think I’d choose one whose hygiene was on more solid footing.

You made some good points there. I did a search on the topic and hardly found any specific details on other sites, but then great to be here, seriously, thanks… Andre
