X-Fest 13 lineup announced

Local radio station WXEG-FM (103.9) has announced the date and lineup for X-Fest 2008 which will once again be happening at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds.

Tickets to the Sunday, Sept. 14 event go on sale Saturday, Aug. 2 beginning at 8 a.m. Tickets purchased after Labor Day will run $35 while ticket sales the day of (they typically sell-out this event so waiting this long is probably not smart if you want to go) will be $40.

Avenged Sevenfold (pictured above), Puddle of Mudd, Buckcherry, 10 years, Shinedown, Candlebox, Saving Abel, Five Finger Death Punch, Red and Black Tide. Many of the bands have played this event before. Headliners Avenged Sevenfold and Buckcherry were last here for the event in 2006 while Puddle of Mudd appeared in 2004.

Battle for X-Fest 13 winners Felix Tucker, Chapter of Progress, Hollows End and Seconds Fall are the bands listed to play the local X Stage.

Here’s a link to buy tickets.

Any thoughts on the lineup or on X-Fest? Will you be there?

The X just constantly plays the same songs over and over again. Then they invite those bands that they overplay. You can basically GUESS their lineup each year. YAWN!

In related news: local eyeliner and razorblade sales skyrocket.

Half as good as last years lineup. With the abandoned and hated Clear Channel, AMX may not bring as much money and promotion as a Clear Channel. Seems like there is enough money made from these x-fest to bring in bigger, more proven names. Time will tell. May be a late ticket purchase for me whether any are available or not.

Not interested. I miss the festivals of the late 90’s where variety was encouraged. Today it’s all about the hard stuff - metal, emo, whatever. It’s a shame their vision is so limited. That’s why I stopped listening. Try WOXY.com for a true alternative.

Orange Willard and Sometimes5 are not on the line up so I’ll abstain from attendance. Seconds Fall and Felix Tucker are worthy. But you can get to one of their shows w/o all the eyeliner and BS associated w/ the X-fest. My thought? Save your money and go to WoodShock instead. Orange Willard is there as are MANY other wonderful bands (ThinkTank, Creep, NailBinder, and more than I can list right now).

I disagree with about 99% of these comments… I’ve gone to X-fest every year for the past several years, and each year gets better than the last… I love each and every band on the lineup and can’t wait until Thursday morning to get my tickets. I’m so excited

Well, hell I’ll be there. Nothing like a fall day of music. No matter what kind. And I’m 40. :) One of Avenged Sevenfolds looks exactly like my son! Amazing.

I love the lineup this year. I am a 35 year old music junkie and a A7X fan til the end. I got my tickets for 25 bucks and i’m very xcited to go. Where else can u see awesome bands and wait for them to come out and talk to the fans? Like many more said before me, stop bitching and whining and don’t go, but don’t put those down that are xcited.

I myself would love to see Godsmack, Disturbed or Pantera. But hell people its a rock concert and besides there are many more to come in the future. So enjoy the bands they have or don’t go. I swear it’s not a big deal I think that you will still be breathing after the show if you don’t get to see your favorite band.

I am glad to see that this is not a representation of Dayton’s music tastes…most of these bands are getting their 15 mins and have that same generic sound. But hold up, WEEN IS PLAYING??? Is this true??? Now I have to go to Xfest. Too bad about Avenged 7 fold, seems like most of the people defending this craptacular line up wanted to see them. But i’m sure they will like the replacement bands equally. I want to see Candlebox too. :)

Sorry, no Ween. It was on the Live Nation site listed as the last band, and I already bought my ticket! I called the X and the dj didn’t believe me so we looked it up together, but he said no way would an alternative rock band play X fest. just kidding he didn’t say that. But I’m sure it will be fun and that is a lot of bands for the ticket price, maybe I will find some new bands to check out. :)

Is the x-fest going to be reschedualed because of the storm yesterday i think that it was awful that we all spend that much money on a ticket and was told to go home… Somebody keep me updated my email is Erotica_Vampirika@yahoo.com …. Mail me people…. oh and most of the bands sucked anyway except for five finger death punch…it was canceled right after candlebox…

It is being placed on another day but theX has details coming soon. Thats what the site says. I didnt get tickets to this years because of the line up, they need to do better with the bands. 5 finger death punch was prob the only one worth seeing. Read the paragraph on the WXEG.com site.

Call it comfort food, gourmet style.
