Two beers for the calories of one

Miller Brewing Co. is set to roll out MGD 64 in regional markets according to Adagecom. The online site reports the company tested the product late year in the Wisconsin market and results were strong enough to roll out to other midwestern states in early March.

MGD 64 is targeted at female beer consumers and is hoping to reclaim market share from Michelob Ultra, Bud Light and Coors light. The Web site reports Chief Marketing Officer Randy Ransom as saying, “It has the lowest calories out there and still tastes like beer.”

The tagline that was used in the test markets “As light as it gets,” was well received by consumers and is likely to be seen in ads near health clubs.

You should be able to find MGD 64 in stores in Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, North Dakota and South Dakota in early March.

Miller is the same company who brought us Chill, (In my opinion - one of the worst beers ever!). So when Miller says it “still tastes like beer” I’m skeptical.

Is it possible it will still taste like beer? Really?
