Champagne Chair Contest uncorks design
So if you’ve never ever heard of the furniture company Design Within Reach, here is a quick primer: clean, simple reproductions of mid-century modern classics that have been authorized by the original license holders including Herman Miller, Knoll, Cassina, Fritz Hansen, Stua, Vitra, Kartell, Emeco, Artek, Objekto, Flos and Cherner Chair Company. And each year this company holds a Champagne Chair Contest for folks to use their right brain and create an original miniature chair using only the foil, label, cage and cork from no more than two Champagne bottles. A cool new twist is that this year in an effort to eliminate waste they are doing digital submissions … bravo!
All entries must be received, via e-mail, by 5 p.m. on Jan. 7. So if you’re looking for something to do with the trash left over from the New Years party you’re planning, look no further.
