New beer mecca opens for business
I know one place I’ll be visiting this weekend … Chappys Tap Room and Grille, 2733 West Alex-Bell Rd., is opening tonight and I have a feeling they’ll see plenty of visitors. Boasting 30 taps and 80 bottles, it’s a beer lovers Shangri-La. Included in the draught beers is Chimay White … the best and most refreshing of the Belgian Chimay beers in my humble opinion.
According to the Web site, here’s the full list of draught beers Chappys will have on tap: Abbaye de Leffe, Amberbock, Anchor Steam, Avery Kaiser, Barrel House Scotch Ale, Bear Republic Big Bear Stout, Bell’s Hop Slam, Bud Light, Chimay White, Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA, Erdinger Hefe Weizen, Founders Dirty Bastard, Fullers ESB, Great Lakes Edmond Fitzgerald Porter, Great Lakes Seasonal - Nosferatu, Hoegaarden Witbier, Jever Pils, Lindemans Framboise Lambic, Magic Hat #9, Miller Lite, Monty Python Holy Grail, Ommegang Hennepin, Redhook Nut Brown Ale, Rogue Dead Guy Ale, Southern Tier Jah-Va Stout, Stella Artois, Stone Mountain Double IPA, Three Floyds Alpha King Pale Ale, Unibroue Maudite, Woodchuck Amber Cider
A few questions that come to mind … Is this the new place to beat as far as the beer selection on tap? With the Pub recently opening at the Greene, are we entering a period of greater Beervana here in the Miami Valley? What would be the one draught beer you’d like to see come to town that we currently don’t have?
Unrelated: Went to Canal Street Tavern last night to check out the Erin McKeown show and it was … AWESOME. If you’re not familiar with her, she’s worth checking out. And speaking of Canal Street they have a really strong lineup of upcoming shows … Batdorf & Rodney tonight; Kim Richey Saturday; The Werks CD release party next Friday (10/5); Enon playing Dayton Music Fest along with Shawen Acres, Shrug, The American Static and The Audible Influence next Saturday (10/6); Ellis Paul towards the end of October (10/20) are just some of the acts booked. If you have no opinions on beer (how could you?), but feel like chiming in on good live music you’ve seen or are looking forward to (Bob Dylan anyone???), please do.
Cheers!

I suggest Victory Hop Devil. I am disappointed in this article’s failing to distinguish between bottled and draft beers in the list.

That is a great Beer! For any of you not familiar, go to http://www.victorybeer.com/hopdevil.html. Sorry about the confusion on the listing of beers - the list is only what they will have on tap.
