We’re living in an air guitar nation …

The U.S. Air Guitar Championships. Did you know such a thing even existed? It may sound like the ultimate nerdfest - and you wouldn’t necessarily be wrong there - but more importantly, it’s part of a fascinating culture of contestants and fans who believe that air guitar is in fact an abstract art form where the axes are invisible and the chops are for real. A new documentary out now called “Air Guitar Nation” follows the modest beginnings of the U.S. Air Guitar Championships. As contestant C. Diddy, aka David Jung, who goes head to head against one of his fiercest U.S. competitors, Bjorn Turoque, in the film explains, “It ultimately comes down to two things: Asian fury, air supremacy. This is not a contest this is a demonstration. This is a demonstration of my air greatness.” As another contestant so wisely quips, “to ere is human, to air guitar is divine.” This totally rockin’ documentary serves as proof. It also illustrates that beer and air guitar practically go hand in hand. Anyone out there think an air guitar contest here in Dayton would work?
