Goodbye Walnut Hills…
A stop by the Walnut Hills on Brown Street last evening found the location closed with dark plastic hanging in the windows. There were no signs posted or any indication of what was happening.

Two workers from an adjacent restaurant said the bar has been closed for a while now and that a new owner from Centerville is converting the location to a sports bar.
An entry in the bar’s Myspace page indicated the bar had its “Last Bash” July 28th.
The official web site for the bar claims the bar will re-open in a new location to be named later.
While the bar had moved to its present location a few years back, the Walnut Hills name had been an icon in the Brown Street area for several decades.

um… this would be, what, location no. 4 or 5 for a bar by that name? my question: why bother keeping the same name? is a bar still a bar by the same name and personality four or five location changes later? would tank’s be tank’s in a different spot?

I don’t know but Tanks will always be the original Walnut Hills to me.

Thats a good question about location and personality of a bar. For example I can’t visualize bars like Canal Street Tavern in any other location and having the same feeling. Same with the Century.
