Watermelon Gin Fizz - We need a mixologist!
In this month’s issue of “Eating Well” magazine there was a recipe for a watermelon gin fizz that sounded perfect for a hot summer day.
It goes like this:
5 cups diced watermelon, (save one cup back and freeze for ice cubes) 6 ounces gin 8 tablespoons lime juice 1 ½ cups ginger ale Lime wedges for garnish
Instructions -
- Puree the 4 cups watermelon. Strain; divide the juice among 4 ice-filled glasses.
- Top each with 1 1/2 ounces gin, 2 tablespoons lime juice and 1/3 cup ginger ale. Garnish with the frozen watermelon and lime wedges. Source - Eating Well
Every time I’ve made them it seems that something missing… mostly flavor. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestion! I got an email from someone suggesting strawberries. Both sound like great options.

Another “old” trick to make watermelon or any fruit taste sweeter; add the barest pinch of salt. It will intensify the flavors.
