Cocktails for a cause kicks off

The fine folks coordinating the Cattle Baron’s Ball (a gala event happening here in town on Sept. 15) have added a cool twist you don’t often find with a gala event: from now until Sept. 15, seven restaurants around the Miami Valley are participating in a sister event called Cocktails for a Cause. Each restaurant will feature a completely different signature cocktail that will compete for the title of Cattle Baron’s Cocktail (see participating restaurants below).   According to Beth Miller, one of the event’s organizers, “the winning cocktail will be chosen based on volume sold up to the event and during the event and/or total money raised.”

Each cocktail will sell for $10 with $5 of each sold going to the American Cancer Society. We’ll drink to that!

To purchase tickets or for more information: Visit www.cbbdayton.com or call (888) 227-6446, ext. 4207.

Here is the list of participating restaurants and what they’ll be serving:

Therapy Cafe 452 E. Third St., Dayton (937) 461-4000 Will be serving: Cattle Baron Chocolate Martini. Ingredients: Vodka, Crème de Cocoa, Frangelica, chocolate, Half-and-Half, served drizzled with chocolate on top.

So far we’ve only tried the Prima Pallini Meringue Pie at Pacchia, but if this is any indication of what the other places are serving, this will be quite the cocktail competition. It was the prima cocktail it was billed to be and we found it a perfect cure for the warm weather we’ve been having. Have you had any of these cocktails yet? What’d ya have and what’d ya think?
