Virtual cornhole? Really????

In case you weren’t aware, it’s now official: Cornhole has imbedded itself in the fabric of our lives. Grabbing dinner at Tanks last night I couldn’t help but notice that although the buttons and tracking ball on the videogame near the front door looked like the golf game that had been there for the last few years, the image on screen looked more like cornhole. On closer examination this is because it was cornhole or Target Toss Pro: Bags as it bills itself. I knew this day would come, I just guess I hadn’t adequately prepared myself. And so in my shell shocked state, I cautiously approached the game and began to slide in four quarters to play (is it just me or does a dollar to play seem crazy?) and the game promptly credited me with 75 cents. I gave it another quarter, upping the ante to $1.25 for $1 game and the 75 cents credit didn’t change. I found a very helpful, friendly bartender and she deposited a quarter … the game didn’t flinch. The bartender tried to insert more money and the game spit it out. She then refunded my money and unplugged it. Some of us may be ready for cornhole, but it may not be ready for us. If you’ve had more success than I have in playing the latest cornhole craze, do tell.

And speaking of changes at Tanks, check out the chairs and tables. No more rips in the fabric and the swanky new Tanks logo on the tabletops that have been resealed. The new kitchen and bathrooms also appear to be near completion.

So, have you heard news, had sightings or know of events - cornhole tournaments are fair game - at local restaurants or bars worth sharing? Share it here.

Like sauerkraut? Then you better head for Waynesville this weekend [things to do]

Saerkraut

It's not every day that you can feast on a hot sundae, made out of potatoes, sour cream, olives, and, of course, sauerkraut. And that's on top of other kraut-laden food like cabbage rolls, brownies, reuben sandwiches and pizza. Find out for yourself why a little dish called sauerkraut can bring some 300,000 to the village of Waynesville. The annual Ohio Sauerkraut Festival is today and Sunday. More »

The Melting Pot in Washington Twp. [review]

Whether you're looking for a new spot for a date, a night out with the girls or whatever, The Melting Pot offers delicious fondue fun for everyone at its first area location in Washington Twp. For chocolate enthusiasts — and my sense is, there are many of you — dessert here is a gooey slice of heaven. More »
