Hey, that’s not water!
You may have already seen a new bottle out in the beer aisle, but if you were like me you had to look twice.
The new Smirnoff Source bottle looks just like a ritzy frosty bottle of spring water - the clue lies underneath the logo: “contains pure spring water + alcohol.” It’s a malt beverage that tastes a lot like vodka sans the vodka. Containing 3.5% alcohol and fewer calories (115 per 16 ounce bottle) than other beers and malt beverages, Source is looking to win customers, with a cool, clean look and taste. Suggested price is high at $9.99 for four bottles.
According to Impact’s Annual Beer, Wine and Spirits Study, ready-to-drink flavored alcoholic beverages accounted for a whopping three billion dollars in sales in 2006. Add Smirnoff Source to the list vying for a cut. Seen anything new on store shelves that’s caught your attention? Let us know.
