Where are you headed for restaurant week?
Yesterday’s “Sneak Peek of Restaurant Week,” held at Design Gallery Home Improvement, 2741 Lyons Rd., was a promising glimpse of things to come.
Restaurant Week, which runs July 29-Aug. 3, lets diners feast on three-courses at participating restaurants for a fixed price of $20.07 with a $1 going to charity.
Everything served at the sneak peak was tasty. Standouts at the event were Bahn Mai Thai Cafe’s sampling of it’s Panang Shrimp served with a Mango salad that packed some surprising heat, El Meson’s Pollo con Garbanzos - a fork tender chicken dish served with a flavorful Garbanzo, pea, carrot, caper, pepper and raisin sauce - and Encore’s cashew salmon served on a mini risotto cake with a tomato basil bisque.
I know I’ll be out there enjoying restaurant week, but will you? What are you looking forward to? Check out the menus that have been posted so far at http://www.dineoutdayton.org/srw07.html.
Happy dining!

August 2 Thursday 7:30 PM. Chimney’s, Don’t go. After waiting 45 minutes with no salad yet, we left. We asked for some bread and were told they were out. Waitress finally threw down some crackers. Chef has yet to organize this resturant. We went to Bullwinkels and got quick service and excellent food. We say skip Chemney’s.
