Working moms deserve a Momtini
A new book out entitled, “Cocktail Therapy” by Leanne Shear and Tracey Toomey bills itself as “the perfect prescription for life’s many crises” with a cocktail suited for any of day to day problem you may encounter and a philosophy that reads when life hands you lemons it’s time to make a rum-soaked tropical lemonade.
Organized into five very funny sections - family feuds and friendship follies, romantic minefields, work woes, the hole in your pocket and little annoyances - it presents a crisis and an accompanying cocktail to cry over. The laughter that ensues sans cocktail just reading the book is therapeutic.
Here is an example from the book of “Therapy” that sounded pretty good to us:
“Crisis: You look around and find that you and your friends went from a wild flock of social butterflies to a group of tired, overworked moms. How did this happen? … it’s perfectly fine to balance your independent social side with being a mother. You work hard and you deserve some quality time with your girls.”
Cocktail: Momtini
1 1/2 oz. peach flavored vodka, 1 oz. peach schnapps, splash of lime juice (freshly squeezed if you can), splash of orange juice
Combine ingredients in a shaker over ice. Strain into a cocktail glass. If you feel like having more than one call a sitter.
