More competition for Dayton’s best burger?

Well, if you like to eat, you’ve probably already seen the story in the paper today about a new burger chain moving into the market … Five Guys Burgers and Fries is based down south and has a local franchisee who’s moving the eatery into our market, with plans to expand as soon as he can.

Sounds like a fun place, from the write-up. We’ll have to drop by soon.

The new owner does make the rather bold — not to say outrageous, because we don’t know yet — claim that the first Five Guys burger he had was the best he’d ever tasted…. Could be; these things are, after all, in the mouth of the beholder, as it were….

But naturally, this begs the usual sort of Leadbelly Query: What’s the best burger in town?

Seems that we should figure this out before we get a new competitor, just so we know what he’s up against.

All righty, the question’s there. You know the drill: Discuss!

I had a Slyders burger 5 years ago; never been back. Burger was too dry. Has their recipe/management changed? Excellent burger is at Cadillac Jacks!

Best burger in town right now is at Slyder’s Tavern. Had a Five Guys burger recently in CO with my son and D-I-L and LOVED it… actually better than Slyders! My son and D-I-L are Five Guys fans, too, but their favorite burger happens to be Smashburger! Haven’t tried one of those, but I’m looking forward to doing so. Can’t wait for the new places to open, but I’ll still be going to Slyder’s as well.

I vaguely recall that the Pine Club is supposed to have great burgers. I ate there once. The place was so dark I could not see what I was eating. It might have been a burger.

5 Guys will become Dayton’s best burger. The UC campus just got one and it quickly became the favorite. However, after a recent trip to the west coast, I would like to see In-N-Out burger make its way out of the Pacific Time Zone.

Five Guys is good, the fries are great, but the meat to bun ratio leaves a little to be desired.

Best burger in Dayton has ALWAYS been Pine Club. And if you don’t already know that then you’ve never had one. If you disagree, then there’s Ralleys just for YOU!

Maybe they could get one in Riverside. Right next to Rally’s.

I haven’t tried 5 Guys burgers yet. I a month or so ago I saw on the news, That our President placed a carry out order for himself and his staff at 5GUYS and he went in himself with his secret service agents and picked up the order, So I’m looking forward to trying them. As far as the BEST burger in town: I never had one better than the burger they make at Slyder’s tavern on Watervelitte in the Belmont district Max

Just had my first Five Guys burger on Sunday up in Columbus and it really was good. The cajun fries are great too. The new Smashburger opening up just down the road should make for some interesting competition.

I tell ya, my mother-in-law took my family to Five Guys when we were in FL this past July and I’ve been craving more since then! I drove past the location last week, not realizing it was there, did a complete turn around only to find out it wasn’t open yet. I look forward to a casual chain that offers the BEST burgers around! And the fries?!?! I love the fries! You’ll find me at Five Guys for sure! Probably even on the day it opens- it is that good!

Tried a 5 Guys burger at the DC airport in May, it was quite tasty, and they have some great toppings like hot peppers. Of course, my fave burger is still being served at the Sunrise Cafe in Yellow Springs….
