A lovely little joint in Warren County
Brother Ron here… I was doing business in downtown Lebanon a while ago and got a little bit hungry, and stopped at a neat little place at 200 S. Broadway called Roots Coffee & Bagels.
They serve steamed-bagel sandwiches that made me very happy … I had “The Ness,” which had turkey, provolone, cream cheese and a big pile of bean sprouts on a Honey Wheat Bagel. The taste combo was a little odd, in a good sort of way — the sprouts gave an earthy flavor, and the sweetness of the cream cheese worked well with the funkiness of the provolone cheese…. All in all, nice.
And not too filling, too. Just right.
I happily stopped back, because they serve very good coffee, too. Later I had the PB and banana bagel, which made a nice light lunch with coffee.
They’ve got wifi and the place has a patio that sits on the edge of the train tracks where that tourist train runs through Lebanon. Fun to watch the train and traffic go by while you eat and read.
The staff is very warm and friendly, and you get the sense that this is a nice family place that’s working hard to get going and off the ground. I’ll be back often to help ‘em out!
BTW, they’ve got a pizza bagel that looks divine…
Check ‘em out at www.rootscoffeeandbagels.com.
Tell the Leadbellies sent you!
