Only a few more days until Valentine’s Day

Just a few days remain until Valentine’s Day (For those living under a rock, it’s Saturday this year!).

Have you purchased or made your gifts and Valentine’s for that special someone or someones in your life? Have you made your plans or reservations?

Make sure you get moving soon. You don’t want to give the love of your life the lamest card in the store because it was the only one left.

If you’re wallet is not so much in love with spending a fortune, over at the Bargains blog, you can find deals all week long on everything Valentine including candy, flowers and jewelry.

Single? Just plain HATE Valentine’s Day and everything it stands for (trust me, if you fall into this camp, you also likely fall into the first one and your camp can change with the right person in your life, so choose carefully)? There are options for you this weekend as well. The Lounge Lizards have gathered details on the most fun anti-V-Day happenings around.

If you are heading out to find food, be it with your S.O. or with your friends, take it from the area restaurants themselves, there are romantic deals and find dining options to be had this weekend.

And if you still need something to do, check out our Valentine’s Guide for games, romantic movie suggestions, top romantic restaurant picks, gift ideas and more.

So… what are you doing for Valentine’s Day? Share your plans below.

A True Love Story: My mother and father, Ruth and Robert Thompson, have taught me more about love than anyone or anything I have ever seen. This past year, my precious mother moved into the Venetian Gardens nursing home in Goshen, Ohio. My father, who is 85 years old, faithfully visited her every day at 8:00 a.m., staying until mom was ready to be tucked into bed. My mother sings “I wouldn’t change a single thing about you if I could” daily to my dad. When he walks into the room, it’s as if she received the biggest piece of gold one could ever find. Their worlds revolve around each other. This past week, daddy was admitted to the same nursing home because of his pacemaker installation. He has his own room all for himself, but he’d rather spend his time in mom’s room, so they share the same space together. When he gets up to walk, he holds a cane in one hand, and my mom’s hand in the other. Mom will be 81 years old this Valentine’s Day. We call her “God’s Valentine”. They have been married 61 years. When I ask my Mom, “What’s your secret of staying together all these years?” She says, “Love, and never go to bed mad. And always let him think that he’s in charge, even though you are.” (tee hee). I’ve learned that material things aren’t important as you grow old but the love of your spouse and family is the richest treasure you could ever have. Besides the love of God, mom and dad share the richest love I have ever seen. I have a picture of them kissing..each in a wheel chair. I don’t know how to send it to you…..
