Have you started your holiday shopping yet?

It may only be the first of November, but some people are already tackling their holiday shopping lists. I saw a woman in Meijer on Friday who was purchasing toys for Santa to give her grandkids. And let me tell you, they’ll likely be very happy come Dec. 25.

Everywhere I go though, I’m hearing people say they’re starting early, budgeting much tighter and a lot of people are even making their gifts this year (myself included!)

What about you? Will you make gifts or buy them? Or a combination?

Do you have unique ideas to pass on for homemade gifts for other readers?

And how much will you be spending this year?

How much per person, on average, will you spend on holiday gifts this year?
  Less than $10
  $10-$20
  $20-$30
  $30-$40
  $40-$50
  More than $50

I haven’t started yet, but I have started the list and idea stage. I think I need to be more organized this year so I don’t spend more than I budget.

Hi all! Just wanted to mention Gift Baskets this year, seeing as our company specializes in customization of gift baskets, for all budgets, and people! We are attempting to re-brand what the idea of a “gft basket” is…no more wine and cheese, rather something more useful, better tasting and looking! I would love to hear your feedback and even more, if you are interested, help you design the most perfect gifts this season! Chelsea 202.342.2111 cbenetz@eliteoccasions.com www.eliteoccasions.com

Have cabin fever? Come to a treasure hunt for adults on Jan. 10 [things to do]

With the economy spiraling seemingly out of control, many people would do anything for a little treasure. On Saturday, Jan. 10, the Centerville-Washington Park District is attempting to give parkgoers just that. Grant Park, 501 Normandy Ridge Road in Centerville, is hosting an event called Cabin Fever Cache, offering a reason to get into the great outdoors despite cold temperatures. The event revolves around geocaching, a growing trend that is part time capsule, part treasure hunt. Think it sounds like something only a few nerdy, tree-hugging types might be into? Think again.
