2008 Holiday stamp design

Do you have your stamps for sending out your holiday cards yet? The 2008 design for holiday stamps is a nutcracker theme.

The Holiday Nutcrackers stamps are on sale now (online or at your post office) and feature a Santa nutcracker, a drummer, a king and a captain.

Speaking of sending out cards… do you have yours to send yet? Have you made your list? Better yet, have you started filling them out? I haven’t started making mine out yet, but I do have them. I try to always buy mine after Christmas the year before. I get some great deals on some of the prettier and often fancier cards and I can buy plenty to meet the names on my list. I’m excited to start writing out the names for this year. Hopefully I can get them in the mail early!

But if you didn’t buy yours last year, don’t fret, I’ve already spotted some for sale at a few stores and within a few weeks you’ll undoubtedly be able to find them nearly anywhere you shop.

Hillary, The Envelope near Dorothy Lane Market in the Washington Square Plaza did my family’s Christmas cards this year and last and does a magnificant job.

With the economy spiraling seemingly out of control, many people would do anything for a little treasure. On Saturday, Jan. 10, the Centerville-Washington Park District is attempting to give parkgoers just that. Grant Park, 501 Normandy Ridge Road in Centerville, is hosting an event called Cabin Fever Cache, offering a reason to get into the great outdoors despite cold temperatures. The event revolves around geocaching, a growing trend that is part time capsule, part treasure hunt. Think it sounds like something only a few nerdy, tree-hugging types might be into? Think again.
