Stock up now for next year
Halloween week is upon us (It’s this Friday, for those minus a calendar) and while you pour out the bags of candy for the trick or treaters you’re probably already thinking about having to pack away all the spooky decorations you’ve had out this month.
Any that are more fall themed than Halloween can be kept out through Thanksgiving of course, but the rest gets packed away (in orange and black plastic tubs at my house!). If you’ve got the time (this weekend looks like it will be good weather to do so) it’s best to organize your decorations and make inventory lists so you know where everything is next year and it’s quick to get out and decorate.
But my favorite part of the season comes right now when stores start marking down their Halloween merchandise in the hopes of getting rid of it to move in Santas and snowmen as soon as possible.
So, if there’s an item you’ve been eyeing but didn’t want to pay full price for, head out this week and see if it’s been marked down yet. If it’s still full price, keep your eye on it or even ask someone when they will mark down the Halloween items. If something’s been a display item all season ask for an additional discount (these items often are missing extra pieces and sometimes boxes or instructions). The worst they can do is say no. But remember, for as much as you want the item, they want to get rid of it just as badly in most cases giving you the advantage.
Have you already found some good deals? What’d you get?
