Diva of Pet Relations
You just have to love a hotel that creates a managerial position of Diva of Pet Relations and then hires a Havanese named Georgie. The Hotel Vintage Plaza in Portland, one of the Kimpton Hotels, has a new pet program designed to cater to guests and their pets. How? Can you say a daily Whine Hour? Every day from 5 to 6 p.m., while owners sip wine, Georgie takes their pets off to try on outfits and have their pictures taken for the hotel’s Facebook page. Go to Facebook.com and search for Vintage Plaza. You can also visit Georgie’s Web site at http://dev08.kimptonhotels.com/services/pet-directors-vintage-plaza.aspx. You can also find other pet diva managers for other Kimpton hotels in Denver, New York, San Francisco and other cities.

Did you ever Dog-Ku?
I found Nirvana. It was right here all along In the kitchen trash
All day I sniff butts. I come home to celebrate By kissing your face.
I’ve stopped humping legs, But I can’t contain myself When your mother comes.
Just some examples from a new book called Dog-Ku; very clever Haikus cleverly written by very clever dogs. Okay, it’s actually written by Steve Marsh. But he must be channeling dogs. The book, from St. Martin’s Press, will be published Oct. 30. And if the examples above are any indication is very worth the $12.95 price. The verses muse on any number of things that happen on any doggy day, such as cats, squirrels, sleep, treats, friends, and even threats.
For example,
The paperboy comes. He wants to murder us all! Bark! Bark! Bark! Bark! Bark!
Or
If I could sniff out That Osama bin Laden I would bite him hard.

Anyone watching Discovery Channel’s Iditarod: Toughest Race on Earth?
I haven’t watched the new reality show on Discovery yet, Iditarod: Toughest Race on Earth. Has anyone watched it? What do you think about it? It airs on the Discovery Channel Tuesdays at 10 p.m.
I am not a fan of reality shows, so I haven’t been motivated to watch. I am more interested in the dogs than the mushers! Should I make it a point to watch?
There is an interesting article on sled dogs on MSNBC.com. Why Iditarod sled dogs are super dogs. I found it very interesting.
