Thai food varies and the definitive comparison is Pad-thai. Thai Nine is inconsistant. My new favorite is J.Y.Bamboo in Fairborn. They also do Chinese and Japanese very well….surprisingly.
Little Saigon is still the best Vietnamese since The Viet left East town shopping center.
You’re comparing apples and oranges. Asian food is diverse. Would you put Mexican and Italian in the same category?
Been to Sima many times. Sima is OK and better than most in town. I like them for Korean food. Akashi is better for Japanese. I have traveled extensively and had Japanese food all over and have to say we are very fortunate to have an incredible Japanese restaurant like Akashi.
Sima has the best sushi I’ve ever eaten. The Playboy Roll is unique and no one else can compete with it. Also, the Bento Lunches are outstanding. Many good places on the list, but Sima is the best in my book!
I’m sorry I missed out on the voting. I just got the e-mail from Carvers today. Our favorite Chinese restaurant, for fine dining, is Mr. Lees, and for eat in or take out it is Tso’s on Col. Glenn. Large prtions, great taste.
Jays is the best for seafood, and McCormick & Schmick is right up there too.
I don’t understand why people still love China Cottage?? That place used to be amazing, and went through a huge change a few years ago and is awful. I don’t even know where to start first! It’s gotten so bad that when people offer me a free meal from there, I turn it down. And I am CHEAP!
Sima provides excellent sushi and the staff is very friendly. My family is also partial to the House of Thai in Beavercreek. Both restaurants value their customers and provide a delicious cuisine. Sima wins my vote this time, but it was a tough decision.
Why would you ever group Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese Thai and Chinese all in the same poll? I’m willing to put money down that most of the people that voted for a Chinese restaurant have never had authentic Korean or Japanese food. This will skew the results and make the “best of” title practically useless. Here are my votes, per category:
Best Japanese – Sima, hands down
Best Korean – Sima, no contest
Best Chinese – North China in Centerville
Best Thai – Siam Pad Thai
Haven’t tried Pearl Bay, but I see they have bubble tea, which I don’tbelieve any place else around here has.
I voted for Sima. But every place on the list is very good.
trust me. go to house of thai in beavercreek. they have like 80 menu items and the food is
amazing. i would eat there any day. go at lunch and get a lunch box. a million times better
than thai 9 in my opinion.
As an officer working in at KPD I knew all the good places to eat and I enjoyed the China
Cottage from the start as being the best. I still enjoy eating there when I visit Dayton.
Mala Green Bean/ Chicken is the best.Tell Tiger Joe & Mom hello.
How am I supposed to choose between Lihn’s and Siam Pad Thai? They have different cuisines, but both are fantastic little places. They’re easily my two favorite restaurants in Dayton.
Pearl Bay is really nice. I think the food is top notch and the pricing is right for the portions.
My personal pick is Thai 9. The only thing I dislike about Thai 9 is the parking and being in Sayton/Oregon
I would have said China Cottage in the past but I ate at two locations recently and it was not the same quality as a few years ago. I was sad to see that because it was always our #1 choice before.
China Cottage rocks !!!!! not only is the food good but it is beautifully decorated.
not to mention the fact that they have authentic asian dishes and the service is good too.

I’ve traveled on many business trips tasting sushi around the country and the best rolls I’ve had is at Sima. The Honeymoon Roll is to die for!

Seating is tight in both restaurants, but the food is awesome! Better service too
