I would heartily recommend B. Douglas Salon and Spa for your consideration. They have the best stylists, colorists, manicurists, etc. and they are warm, friendly and caring people who really go out of their way for their clients. Bonnie rocks!

I’m glad Michael’s didn’t win. They are the most overrated salon in town. A couple of years ago, I refused to get my hair cut until I lost 40 pounds, which motivated me to reach my goal. The plan was to go to Michael’s for a cut, highlight & style and I asked the receptionist if they had someone who knew what to do with curly hair. She assured me the stylist was top notch. I left with flat hair the color of a dirty penny hanging down in my eyes. They “fixed” it and it was nearly black.

CONGRATULATIONS to all of the salons and spa’s that had a place in the Active Dayton . com poll to name the best salon or day spa in Dayton. We are the owner’s of Arti Beauty Spa and are honored to be in such good company. We would like to send a special congratulations to Square One. It is very wonderful to see such passion from clients and professionals. We have been in this business for 25 years and are amazed at how it has changed from a paper appointment book to computers and even having your schedule on your smart phone!! Wow what strides we have made. We are so impressed by the contenders in this category , some new names and some pillars of the beauty industry in Dayton. All are WINNERS in our eyes. A new year is a fresh start for many things and what a great time it would be as professionals in the beauty industry to come together for the greater good of the community and each other. A little playful competition is great for moral and it gives us a great tool for engaging with quests and clients for building loyalty. So to all the beauty professionals and salons/day spa’s who took place in this event…….. CONGRATULATIONS and we look forward to seeing you all “in the running” next year. Sincerely Roz Muselin and Tim Farquhar Owners of Arti Beauty Spa

I would like to congraduate Square One Salons for their tremendous work. It it obvious that many clients prefer this salon over others. I have only been to Square One Dayton once. I would have to say it was wonderful and I will be going back. I have been to other salons in the Dayton area and they were really nice also. I would have to say it was the people and not neccessarily the environment. To Salon Ventures - it seems you like to spam your way around and why be a sore loser? Good Luck!

I would like think everyone who participated really had an honest and forth coming vote. The would thing that the ones whom participated are salon clients and not the employees of the company whom they work for. Thinking that this would only help the larger salons and prove to be a disadvantage to the smaller salons. I have not even heard of some of the salons listed. That does not make them any less for what they do or try to achieve. I occasionally check in on this site to see what’s hot.

Congratulations to Square One for doing a bang up job! As to all the accusations of cheating, is there any salon nominated that DID NOT use Facebook and Email to get votes? I’m just proud of Arti Beauty Spa. We’re a smaller salon and we did well for our size. Thank you to all our loyal clients!

Lots of salons have beautiful decor and talented stylists, what sets the best above the rest is customer service. 252 West has the friendliest, most professional staff in Dayton! Their attention to detail and personal service are unmatched. After every visit, I feel special, I feel pampered, I feel like a million bucks! It’s such a great experience, my whole family goes to 252 West. We love it!

We can assure you that it is impossible for anyone to cheat on our polls. We have it set to a very high security level which prevents multiple votes from the same computer. This is also why some of you are having trouble having your votes counted. If you are at work or on a network shared by other users, only 1 person on that network can vote. So if you are voting from work using your company network, you will be the only vote counted from anyone voting on your network.

Funny how this contest is turning out. Some of the comments made are by some people hiding behind their kids email(random). The rooms at Salon ventures are large and very spacious not little rooms or closets like some people would like you to think(random). If you havent been out there and checked it out dont comment on what you dont know just to try and make yourself look better. All of the salons and spas have great people working at them and deserve to be here!

Wow!! Looks like a cat fight going on! Who knew this little local contest would create such controversy!!! LOL!! Of course I’m pulling for Salon Ventures; I’m a salon owner there! Why wouldn’t I? I will say this though, every salon nominated deserves to be here! We’re all #1!!! BTW….Random (Alisha) and Observer(Dee) you guys can just use your real names. ARTI is a great salon! I loved working there and I loved working with all of you. It’s too bad that these games are being played.

Square One gives personal attention to every client. Their unique downtown location is urban chic (and featured in the Dayton Ballet’s latest comemrcials). Great attention to customer comfort and individual styles. And the owners give so much back to the community in the Aveeda spirit. (They did find out late before they e-mailed their clients with the great news of the nomination). Their salon is thriving in a down economy because of their outstanding service and cutting edge styles.

Stylists who must “Hand over ” a portion of their money, do not have any other costs. Stylists who work for themselves may get 100% off their income, but are also responsible for paying for every aspect of their business. It all comes out in the wash. As far as the Salon Ventures residents being from Dayton, that’s great. Their clients should be voting for each mini salon, not hte Landlord.

About Salon Ventures…Of COURSE they are in business for themselves!!! All stylists who have any sense should be! Why hand a portion of your money over to someone else? I have been going to one of the stylists @ Salon Ventures for years now. She is DEFINITELY a Daytonian, & very active in the community. & I think this concept allows the stylist to give more personal attention to each client. The rooms are small? Have you seen the size of a stylists little CUBBY at most salons?

I’ve been to some amazing spas when traveling around the country. Square One is on par or better than most. It’s all about the details and the owners know how to pay attention to details. Plus it’s a very unique atmosphere - especially at the downtown location. LaVonda does amazing facials - she puts me out like a light every time. My husband goes to Tazia for massage and is very impressed. The owners are great supporters of downtown Dayton and are very generous in that support.

Still not a salon, just a fancified booth rental service. a nice one but, back to my original comments. not a salon. if you want to market yourself as individual ownership then each person who leases a space from you should be entered individually. such as salon a, salon b, etc.

Salon Ventures is different from chair or booth rental because instead of just a chair or workstation, lessees are provided four walls with a lockable door, as well as all of the equipment and amenities they need to be successful business owners. Another important point of difference: Unlike most professionals who work in traditional salon environments, Salon Ventures lessees are not required to hand over any commissions and may sell products of their own choosing.

Salon Ventures keeps saying they are a salon yet they advertise that they are individual owners occupying the same building. That is not a salon. they are mini (many) (sic) salons. each one should be treated separately not as one conglomerate. the concept is nice for those who want to go that way, but for purposes here they should not be classified as a true salon. just my thought as well as a few other people’s.

In addition to providing their customers one-on-one, individualized attention, single-stylist salon owners at Salon Ventures earn an average of 25% to 65% more than traditional salon employees. I have gotten my hair done at Salon Ventures with Beth and she did an amazing job!

The look and feel of the salon is not like any other. You are able to be one on one with your stylist and not worry about having to try and talk over others! I would definitely recommend Salon Ventures to anyone.

I LOVE 252 West!!!!! That place is gorgeous, and has the best customer service. I had a pedicure party there with my girlfriends and we were treated like queens!! I highly recommend anyone there, although I have been going to Colleen for years and leave feeling beautiful every time. Also the massage therapist there is the best I have ever had, and I have had massages all over the world. I think her name is Sam. Go 252 West!!!!!!

I have been a Dayton resident for most of my life and have tried most of the salons above at one time or another. . Ashworth’s is EASILY the best! With an unstuffy, hip environment, unmatched talent and reasonable prices, it really can’t be beat. Ask for Tommy … not only will you get the best cut and color of your life, but an hour of some of the best comedy you’ve ever had!

Ashworth’s Beauty Group simply has the highest caliber of talent in the Dayton area. I’ve been around to several other salons and they were fine, but Ashworth’s has consistently been a cut above the competition. Award winning stylists, cutting edge but comfortable atmosphere, and competitive prices makes Ashworth’s Beauty Group simply the best thing going for your hair and beauty in Dayton. I LOVE my hair, thanks Ashworth’s!

Ashworth’s Beauty Group is the best salon in the area, hands down! With exceptional talent, reasonable prices, and excellent service, why would you bother going anywhere else?! As long as I live in Dayton, I will be a faithful client of Ashworth’s Beauty Group.

I’ve been a client at Michael’s Salon and Spa for over 12 years now and absolutely love going there. The service is excellent and staff has become like family to me. I vote for Michael’s Salon.

Michael’s Salon and Spa is listed as Michael’s Centerville on this poll. Anyway to correct the name to Michael’s Salon and Spa?

@KaraokeGirl Curt KJ’s Sparky’s for some extra dough on the side. And really Sparkys is pretty smart choosing the brilliant likes of Curt to KJ like a PRO, smart move.
