i am surprised to find out that the only japanese owned authentic japanese reutaurant is actually ranked the highest in dayton. of course, everything else is owned by foreigners with their american(chinese) invented rolls (which most non-japanese call sushi)
Mr. Lee”s has the best sushi in Ohio without a doubt . Outstanding Sushi! The atmosphere, service, freshness and selection is right up there. Very comparable to the best in Atlanta, San Francisco and other major cities in the US.
Yay! I’m glad Akashi won. I missed the vote, and was glad to see them win best. They absolutely have the best sushi, and the best customer service in my opinion.
Well first off, besides saya (which is definitely not a contender) akashi is the only authentic Japanese restaurant up there. You know you are getting the real thing when not only 90% of the staff but even the owner is Japanese. Don’t know about you but if I want sushi I want the real thing…go to AKASHI!!! Best sushi hands down!
I first had Sushi and sashimi at my bosses house. His mother lived through the hiroshima attack and she told us tales and made us authentic food! The only other place I have had it compare to her food was at Akashi!! Just at Akashi we did not get story telling or singing of Japanese songs!!!
Why isn’t China Dynasty on the list? Great california rolls and excellent sashimi. The only
place where I trust the quality of the fish is here. Chef Stephen Lin is the best!
Saya is hands down THE BEST! Their Korean menu is fantastic, everything I’ve tried is perfect. They always have fantastic service and great prices. We love everything from the appetizers to the entrees to the freshly made sushi. The sushi is made right in front of the dining room and they make such a great show of it!
I’ve never had a quality as high as Saya. Akashi, Sushi Cafe, Sima and the others don’t even compare. Don’t waste your time, just head to Saya.
Definitely have to go with Saya. I think if it was as popular as Thai 9 or some of these other restaurants it would be ranked at the top. I agree with Steve, you haven’t lived until you’ve tried the JH roll!
Whoever thinks Saya in Fairborn is good, Please.
Been there three times and each time had its own misgivings. Will never be back there
again!!! On the other hand, have been to Akashi over 30 times and each was excellent and
very authentic. Cant go wrong there. Sushi Cafe, runner up for sure.
Sushi Cafe is yummy. The Chefs are great and the wait staff is very friendly. They are constantly comming up with new menu items and are very creative.

Akashi has the best sushi and wonderful staff. And to the DDN, Akashi is not in Dayton. It’s in Riverside, the forgotten suburb.

AND…I agree with Steve that Thai 9 may be the best KNOWN. Although they’re good… Not the best.

While Thai 9 might be the best known, Saya is hands down the best.
They absolutely have the freshest tuna and yellowtail, along the amazing JH roll.
If you haven’t tried it yet and think Thai 9 and Akashi are good, you don’t know what you’re missing.
