It’s funny how every year it seems to me that all these bands no one has heard of get to be “The Best In Dayton”. Really, wow I’m impressed. I think all that’s really happened here is much to do about nothing. Music isn’t a contest it’s a art form. If you’re in a band that’s doing well you have my respect. This isn’t a forum for the best, it’s just people that have managed to have a few buddies vote for them on here. I’m sure the Best Band in Dayton is pulling in the big bucks now….NOT.

I’ve never heard of half these bands and some of the ones I have heard of are just ok & some of them suck eggs. My boyfriend & I see alot of live bands and our favorites are Last Call and Powder Keg. There are great musicians in Dayton!

Our band’s motto is MUSIC FROM SOUL TO SOUL and I know each band on here pours their hearts & soul to put their music out there at every gig each week. It’s so cool that 31 bands made the list and there are about another 20 or so that should have made it. Support the local live music ROCKING IN DAYTON! Dayton is so lucky to have so many bands of high talent. If you don’t think that voting is accurate, shake it off! At least now you know that there are other bands out there. And most likely bands that care about there craft as much as the band you might have seen the weekend before. At the end of the day, were all buds in the same boat and just want to make YOU the fan happy along with getting OUR rocks off playing tunes! Oh…and vote Eric Jerardi this year for Best Blues or I’ll cry! LOL

I would like to register a formal complaint. Why is the Turkish delight not on this list! I under stand why we are NOT on the list since we got second place in the band playoffs. but as a fan of the Turkish delight I really question what is going on here. They won the Dayton band playoffs! you would think I could at least vote for them as a write in.
also … alphabetical order would be cool just a thought. and robots always mess everything up

Minutes and Kuan are undeniably rad, but they aren’t the ONLY bands in Dayton taking chances with their art. Any band that has slept on a floor, practiced tirelessly, piled their gear and bodies in a van to get to the show, played a venue they’ve never played before to an audience they’ve never played to before is taking a huge chance. Those bands are sacrificing their time and comfort to take a chance on their art, which is huge. Now check out an interview I did with Kuan at You Indie.

This is a pretty decent list of local bands but where’s the love for truly interesting bands like Kuan or Minutes? They may not play very often but they are the ONLY bands that are taking chances with their art and are undeniably the most innovative and creative bands in the majestic Gem City. I still love The Story Changes though.

What about ITHIKA, SHADOWLIFE, RATTLE CAN, ELEMENT, etc…? These bands play the best clubs in the greater Dayton area, and have large followings. No offense, but don’t know a lot of these bands.

I don’t think joe from the 1984 NFL Draft , would cheat, he’s a pretty solid guy. He sent out an email to all his friends, and they are voting. I suggest other bands utilize their resources…IE..email, myspace, facebook, twitter..etc.. to get their followers to vote. quit whining theres atleast 10 bands that could have atleast 100 votes by now too, if they were motivated enough to get votes! thanks mikey

I buy that I got 100 votes in an hour - it is directly correlational to the email blast that I sent to my mailing list. That list has over 1000 names on it as I have been building over the last 5 5 years of touring. I don’t expect much more - I did what any normal band would do. I told people about the poll and hoped they would vote. No hard feelings. I like a lot of the bands on this list. In fact, I will vote for the story changes because those dudes have brought it for years.
