It’s funny how every year it seems to me that all these bands no one has heard of get to be “The Best In Dayton”. Really, wow I’m impressed. I think all that’s really happened here is much to do about nothing. Music isn’t a contest it’s a art form. If you’re in a band that’s doing well you have my respect. This isn’t a forum for the best, it’s just people that have managed to have a few buddies vote for them on here. I’m sure the Best Band in Dayton is pulling in the big bucks now….NOT.

I don’t know who put this vote together but I go and watch bands almost every weekend and want to give a shout out to my boys in Shadowlife.
www.shadowliferocks.com .
we wanna thank everyone who voted for us. really glad to be doin what we’re doin. y’all make us feel real special :) can’t say enough positive things about dayton and the players around town who make this music scene as kickass as it is. be well friends!
Well done, Magic Jackson! Hopefully the people who haven’t had a chance to listen to your music will look you up and find out just how awesome you are. You guys sounded tight at J Alans on Saturday!
I’ve never heard of half these bands and some of the ones I have heard of are just ok & some of them suck eggs. My boyfriend & I see alot of live bands and our favorites are Last Call and Powder Keg. There are great musicians in Dayton!
Our band’s motto is MUSIC FROM SOUL TO SOUL and I know each band on here pours
their hearts & soul to put their music out there at every gig each week. It’s so cool that
31 bands made the list and there are about another 20 or so that should have made it.
Support the local live music ROCKING IN DAYTON! Thanks activedayton.com for
allowing this venue for so many bands to get their names out there!! KEEP THE MUSIC
COMING MY MUSIC BRUTHAS & SISTAS!!!
Dayton is so lucky to have so many bands of high talent. If you don’t think that voting is accurate, shake it off! At least now you know that there are other bands out there. And most likely bands that care about there craft as much as the band you might have seen the weekend before. At the end of the day, were all buds in the same boat and just want to make YOU the fan happy along with getting OUR rocks off playing tunes! Oh…and vote Eric Jerardi this year for Best Blues or I’ll cry! LOL
well i see all you who have not heard of Majic Jackson are thinking this is fixed all i have to say is your missing out on some GREAT sh*t just go see them and im sure you will change your vote

I would like to register a formal complaint.
Why is the Turkish delight not on this list!
I under stand why we are NOT on the list since we got second place in the band playoffs.
but as a fan of the Turkish delight I really question what is going on here.
They won the Dayton band playoffs!
you would think I could at least vote for them as a write in.
also … alphabetical order would be cool just a thought.
and robots always mess everything up
Minutes and Kuan are undeniably rad, but they aren’t the ONLY bands in Dayton taking chances with their art. Any band that has slept on a floor, practiced tirelessly, piled their gear and bodies in a van to get to the show, played a venue they’ve never played before to an audience they’ve never played to before is taking a huge chance. Those bands are sacrificing their time and comfort to take a chance on their art, which is huge. Now check out an interview I did with Kuan at You Indie.
This is a pretty decent list of local bands but where’s the love for truly interesting bands like Kuan or Minutes? They may not play very often but they are the ONLY bands that are taking chances with their art and are undeniably the most innovative and creative bands in the majestic Gem City.
I still love The Story Changes though.
Cheers to activedayton for continually supporting the local music scene and drawing attention to it with things like this. Sadly though, I know for a fact that last year was won by a programmed bot adding votes. I imagine this year will be no different.
good luck to all the bands! dayton’s music scene is killin it right now ;) there’s a few names missing off the list, but all in all i think there should be some good competition for who is “best in dayton”.

Not Gary!! LOL!! I want to wish all the bands good luck. We all work hard at play so, I’m happy to see these bands getting recognized. There are a few missing too. I’m glad to be a part of our city’s rich musical heritage, Thanks!

I apologize to Joe and the 1984 NFL Draft. I too, sent out a mass email. And unfortunately, this Eldon character used the email address I sent it from to attach to a couple of his comments. These are not the type of fans that the CK Boys want, nor do we need. I’m already reaping the SPAM mail from his antics! Good luck to all bands! And I wish my bruthas from Ithika were on this list because they definitely deserve to be on here with the rest of us!

What about ITHIKA, SHADOWLIFE, RATTLE CAN, ELEMENT, etc…? These bands play the best clubs in the greater Dayton area, and have large followings. No offense, but don’t know a lot of these bands.
I don’t think joe from the 1984 NFL Draft , would cheat, he’s a pretty solid guy.
He sent out an email to all his friends, and they are voting.
I suggest other bands utilize their resources…IE..email, myspace, facebook, twitter..etc..
to get their followers to vote.
quit whining
theres atleast 10 bands that could have atleast 100 votes by now too, if they were
motivated enough to get votes!
thanks
mikey
I buy that I got 100 votes in an hour - it is directly correlational to the email blast that I sent
to my mailing list. That list has over 1000 names on it as I have been building over the last 5
5 years of touring. I don’t expect much more - I did what any normal band would do. I told
people about the poll and hoped they would vote. No hard feelings. I like a lot of the
bands on this list. In fact, I will vote for the story changes because those dudes have
brought it for years.
But this isn’t Shane. I just used his email because he is the one that sent me a request to vote
for his band. Just like I’m using yours now! :-) Do you think I would use mine???
Heck no, I’m going to drop 30,000 votes on “The Wholigans” on the final day and prove that this poll
is crap!
Today, online polls! Tomorrow, the world! Bwa ha ha ha ha!
I have to admit….how does one go from no votes to over 100 in less than an hour.
It’s highly doubtful that over 100 people started voting at roughly the same time.
Interesting, or should I say disheartening.
Join DIDDLEY, LATTER & UNDONE Saturday 10/10/09 at Jackass Flats from noon to 9 pm at the

Hey Sean. Let me guess! Your last name starts with a “J”? This poll is garbage!
You have some nerd from the 1984 NFL Draft with an IP changer voting a million timesfrom one computer!
When the truth is that most of these bands have had more fans at ONE show than the
1984 NFL draft has at all combined! IT’S A SHAM I SAY!!
What kind of sham is it when the band with the most votes (1984 NFL Draft) plays to an average of
10 people per show??? If they’re so good, why doesn’t these 100 people come to a friggin’ show????
