Unfortunately there is no best sub in Dayton. For that you have to go to Capriotti’s in Delaware!

El Grecos Pizza Villa - best cheese steaks and Italian Subs hands down. Hoagies on Dixie runs a close second.

I like sub house and milanos…however, the numbers indicate some hanky panky. Does Kim Jong-il have an interest in Penn station?

We always investigate for cheating in this poll and have taken steps with past polls where cheating was found, including suspending voting.

Please check out our posted poll rules on the Best of Dayton index if you have any questions.

It looks like Penn Station is cheating……Active Dayton needs to look into this….lets be fair and have someone WIN fair and square…not by cheating….shame on Penn Station….

Submarine House has the best subs. The Cheesesteaks are the best. It is sad Penn Station has to advertise to get votes. They sent out an email and everytime someone opens it, they get a vote. Very sad. Go Submarine House!!!

Subhouse in Beavercreek is GREAT. Owners are always there and so friendly, food is great. Best Veggie sub and you can’t get those Tezzers andywhere

I understand how people can miss Mama DiSalvo’s Deli. But let me tell you something - put it on your list of things to do before you die! Rinaldo and his staff make to most outstanding subs and salads, with such a variety of breads and fillings. And they are NOT MADE BY A CORPORATE RECIPE. I would much rather pay the 5.55 per half and get a real sandwich, made with real ingredients, to your specifications. Also try their homemade soups and desserts. Oh yeah - the meatball grinder- dabomb

Milano’s USED to have the best subs…hands down, when they had crusty rolls. now they have doughy bread like everyone else. the meats, onions & dressing are still great, though.

NOONE HAS MENTIONED A TRUE DAYTON ORIGINAL. Why is Charlie’s Import Foods not on the list? Located on 400 block of Troy St. Do yourself a favor and go there today. PENN STATION? Really? National chains are too cookie cutter and lack soul.

Submarine House is the BEST in Dayton. They have been here for over 30 yrs. that has to tell you something.

Chains should not be considered for “best of dayton”. Do you people who voted for Penn Station also shop at Wal Mart? Ronnie at Momma DiSalvo’s makes the most authentic Italian sandwich. Also, not only am I Italian, but I have spent time in Italy!

I love Penn Station and Submarine House, so I’ll vote twice - once for each. Penn Station’s Italian and Vegetable subs are great; but Submarine House has the best Philly Steak.

What , are you telling me no one like anyone’s sub but Penn Station? Are they paying people to vote for them? I have tried Penn Station and I Think they are good. But I haver had other’s that are better. Jimmy John’s, Momma Disalvo’s, And Ron’s in Miamisburg are better in My humble opinion.

By Christy

I like Penn Station, but the only reason I think they are ranked this high is that they are promoting this vote. Not that you have to vote for them, but the people who have other favorite sub shops don’t know about the vote.

I love Pen Station, their Chicken Teriyaki is the best. Extra mayo and extra mushrooms light on the onion. Yummmm! The challenge with some sub places is the sides. If the sub and the sides are not good, then it cancels out the sub.

Penn Station has to be cheating in some way. Submarine House is hands down the winner. Besides it was started in Dayton. People need to keep that in mind. show dayton some love!?!

Penn Station’s Philly Cheesesteak for the win! I went to Philly a few years ago and was so excited to try an “authentic” cheesesteak sandwich for the first time. I hated it. It was dry and had no flavor! The day I came home from vacation, I went to Penn Station to get one from them!

Milano’s meatball sub tops them all IMO.

The email promotion about this poll by Penn Station is shameless. It automatically votes for Penn Station when you click on the link in their email. They should be removed from the poll for that tactic.

I almost voted for Pot Bellies, cause their skinny version of anything is crusty and juicy and delicious. They are a great chain!!! But Submarine House IS Dayton’s sub-house and they just can’t be beat.
