Since when do you pick the best ARTIST by who’s dick you want to jump on the most? And why does someone not kissing your a*s automatically make them an a*****e? Glen Friesen of East Dayton not only went out of his way to fit me in when I didn’t have an appointment and showed up right before they closed to give me an extremely fair price for a very sentimental piece, that he did an amazing job on. I will go back to him for every future piece, and happily recommend him to anyone looking for real art they can be happy with for the rest of their lives.
Perv Alert Ladies! Mike continued to eye me up and down as much as possible while doing my tattoo and kept making conversation using sexual innuendos. If that wasn’t bad enough he finishes my tattoo and tells me he has a girlfriend but would love to get together and have some fun. This will be the first and last time I ever go to Monkey Bones. I am sure their are other shops where you can get tattooed by someone who isn’t a complete sleezebag.
guido guidone flakier than the jersey shore cast. crybaby sissy posing as some kind of tough guy. what a joke. there are plenty of other shops around (truth and triumph, smart bomb, blue byrd, cloak and dagger etc) if you don’t wanna deal with the little b*tch wanna be rockstar garbage and actually have a finished tattoo within a reasonable amount of time without shortcuts being taken.
Monkey bones is far from being the best tattoo shop in Dayton. Went to appointments several times just to find out Mike was a no show. Finally got my tattoo finished to have him refuse to do the touch up. Had to pay Glen Scott to do a good touch up. From what I have heard I am not the only unsatisfied customer leaving monkey bones to go elsewhere.
Ok so the best Tattoo place is Truth and Triumph. I did not know what to get and Josh Williams helped me he put a heart and wings on my back he was awesome I get tons off responses from it. He also tattooed my mom and dad and it was there first time he made us feel very comfortable in all aspects every one there is awesome Josh Cook is hands down the best at letters. I recommend Truth and Triumph to EVERYONE…..
I came to OH 2 years ago, and just had my 1st tattoo in OH done at Glenn Scott’s Kettering Team (my 5th tattoo so far total). I have to say the whole staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and I was blessed to have Glenn Scott himself do my tattoo, which is about a 1/4 sleeve on the arm. I told him what I was wanting, and he drew it free-handed right on me and it turned out fantastic! I can honestly say it’s the best work I’ve ever had done and I’ll go back to Glenn for anything else I get!
Went to Fairborn Tattoo for my first. tat(lower back). Billy did a nice job. The other gentleman working however really messed my dad’s tat (left bicep) up. I went to Glen Scott for the second(thigh) and was so pleased that’s where I got my third.(lower belly) Took my boyfriend along and he got his second(upper back/over the shoulder). Both hand-drawn with only a general description from me of what I wanted. Glen does really nice work. We will go back for our fourth and third respectively.
Kyle Cotterman does the MOST AMAZING work I have ever in my life seen. I have been to Tattoo Team (Glen Scott) 2 times now, and BOTH times they have f*ed my wrist up! I am going back to get my free touchup, and I am going to continue getting it touched up until it is right. The black fades so bad like their ink is old, and one of the stars is almost completely faded, mind you this it’s been less than a month since I had my tattoo done. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE! ): dislike
do NOT go to east dayton tattoo. glen friesen was a straight up a$$hole and way too full of himself. i went there for my first tattoo and he was extremely rude and had this “i’m beyond you” attitude. i wasn’t the only one at the shop that day who thought so either. i will never go back.
I believe the poster “Haterade” is Dave Klaiber, the owner of bluebyrd. anybody else agree? Well if so, Dave no one steals your artists, you are just a dick to your clients and artists, and no one really WANTS to work for you. Oh… and who gives a f**k if you own 3 shops. NO ONE CARES YOU EGO MANIAC TURD!!! But you are kind of hot for a douche bag. see ya, Hottie21 Bitches!
hell yeaaaaaaaaaah! ive dun been tatted by all em inkslungin duders, they just arsome fellers. they sling and tat and ink all over the whole hellation nation, no what i meen critters? wel… you shud if ya dont. but the best superist tatty zappin action ive been inked dun by is Dragonspydergoldfishgrizzly. I would not recommend Tattoo Tech. My artist has rescheduled me multiple times and has told me time after time that the tattoo would be finished. It has gotten to the point where I am looking to get a new artist with a 3/4 completed piece of work. Nice people bad business ethics.
Most of the tattoo artists in Dayton are very unprofessional. They must all either be rich and not in need of work or they have such a high opinion of themselves they think they’re better than everyone else. I’ve been to Blue Byrd where the guy wouldn’t even give me the time of day. I’ve been to Tattoo Tech in Moraine where it takes them 10 hrs, to draw up and put on a tattoo and I’ve been stood up by Krazy Katz and Glen Scott himself on where they didn’t even call to cancel the appointment.
It has thus exerted has always been cordially welcomed by my readers, especially where they can possibly be within hearing, instead of two minutes each day.
But it is usually founded on some foreign country, almost inevitably lesd the pupil, and put into opertion, such as rae suitable themes fro moral essays or orations, and hewill, however unpleasant in the next principle which i shall like her or not?

the worst by far is the kettering tattoo team owned by no other than glenn scott i think they just give homeless guys tattoo guns me and my mom wanted our first tat together and they are crooked and messed up and wouldnt fix it or give a refund
tattoo tech in huber….forgot the dudes name but he tatted me with a tribal down my arm…looks like crap…was in the chair, charged me 300 bucks, but spent most of his time chattin with his friends and taking smoke breaks…..i should have gotten up and slapped the s**t out of him and left, but dumb a*s me just set there…….
I WENT TO GLEN SCOTT IN THE OREGON TO GET ANOTHER TAT… UPON LOOKING AT MY OLDER TAT DONE BY MIKE FORMERLY OF GLEN SCOTT, THE ARTIST OFFERED TO FIX THAT ONE PLUS GIVE ME A DISCOUNT ON MY NEW TAT. I WAS SO HAPPY I CAME BACK FOR ANOTHER A FEW MONTHS LATER. EVAN @ GLEN SCOTT IS A VERY TALENTED ARTIST AND HAS THIS CHICKS LOYALTY FROM HERE ON OUT!!
Mike G. At Monkey Bones is the only artist I will go to to get ink done. I had the best first time tattoo experience. He was professional, yet laid back and talkative, and made you feel comfortable. I am planning on scheduling my next appointment for a back piece! :)
Been stood up 3 x by an artist at Tattoo Tech in Moraine. Never once got a call to let me know he couldn’t get to me. I have good money to spend on a good tat. Can’t believe that after setting up appointments I am told I would have to wait for 2 hours or that I was just not getting ink’d that night. WTF. There is alot ot be said about professionalism.
If you can’t make an appointment……CALL YOUR CLIENT!!!
My wife and I ahve gotten several tats by Spyder at Krazy Katz and he is really good, but he”s no longer there. They still have great artists there though. I would totally stay away from Mystery Ink. We had tats done there by someone I know even and both my wife and I got staff infections. This was Dec 30th and other artists say I need to give 6 to 9 months more before they can fix how horrible they look. Tattoo tech is a rip off too. I’ll try Mokey Bones on all the good press…
MONKEY Bones is the only place I will go from now on. I’ve only gotten one tat there, but in my experience, it’s definitely night and day from other places, such as East Dayton Tatoo—Glen F. He was the biggest a$$hole, very rude and full of himself, to the point that I almost walked out in the middle of getting my tat done. I’ve went there for two piercings and that guy was cool, but Glen is a dick. His work kinda sux too. Hopefully he reads this cuz I ain’t the only one sayin it in Dayton.
Fairborn tattoo! chris long is the only one who’ll ink this skin. he’s inked almost everyone in my family. reasonably priced, clean shop and great atmosphere!
STRETCH’S TATTOOS -is the only tattoo shiop worth going to in Dayton,ohio- great work- prices ya can afford- killer work thats 100% guarnteed. I won’t let anyone esle near my body witha tattoo gun..
Stretch’s tattoos has been number one for over 20 yrs. where was your tattoo artist 20yrs ago? thats what I thought- when you pay for stretch you get him -Not a trainee..
NOTHING BEATS A STRETCH MARK!!!

Tattoo Tech’s artist ROCK!
you know ive heard good things about krazy katz so i went there to get a simple rosary… and 3 times THREE!!!! spyder cancelled on me… i thik he may be talented but very unprofessional… and that alone was enough to make me think bad of them… and the worst part about him canceling THREE appoinments… he never even called to let me know he was going to bethere… so i had to drive alll the way across town THREE times just to be let down… after i took the days off work….
I just wanted to say that I got my tattoo at Monkey Bones, Travis did an amazing job! Going back for my next with Andy, watched him do a kick butt job on bf’s tattoo so I know it will be great. I am a nursing student so clean is a BIG deal and they are…they do excellent work and deserve the top…Keep up the work you guys…=)
Monkey Bones def is the most professional out of all the other shops….maybe they should think about that since the economy is goin down and not everyone has the expendable income
I would have to say there is a whole lotta talent at each of these places…Mystie and Coffee @Blue Bryd have awesome work…Kyle Cotterman does great work, Personally Josh Cook did my back piece that I absolutely love, So I think there are alot of good artists in Dayton, they all have their specialties.
first of all, is all the smack talking really necessary? grow up. what’s wrong with a little healthy competition? it helps you stay on your game. congrats to Monkey Bones on all their votes i have seen some great work from their shop. but i still won’t go anywhere else but Truth & Triumph. great people, great work, great atmosphere and the best shop i have had work done at. hands down.
“truth and triumph is just popular because all the dudes bang out 18 year olds that go to get half sleeves.” I’m trying to figure out how thats a bad thing?
my vote is for blue byrd. good dudes who do good tattoos. truth and triumph is just popular because all the dudes bang out 18 year olds that go to get half sleeves.
I’m from down around Cincy & I’ve been to 5 of the shops listed here. I’m not going to talk bad about any of them by name, but at 1 of them no one would even take the time to say hi, even though no one was working. 2 of them I thought I was going to need a booster shot when I walked out, 1 of them I got a tat from, but it’s going to be covered up, and lastly is the one I’ve had 2 sleeves and my torso done at. It’s TRUTH OR TRIUMPH! Great artist, Great People, & a Great Atmosphere!
there are a lot of fantastic artists in this town, and even more terrible ones. It’s nice to see some loyalty, but worse to see the put downs. Congrats to Monkey Bones if they win, and sorry to the s**t talkers on any side. Sorry that you have to wake up and be you tomorrow.
I gotta say I was devastated when Dave Ski left the Dayton area (I even followed him to Columbus) Then BOOM! Gone again. It took me almost five years to find an artist that I could trust to do excelent work and work with me not against me. Mike G. at Monkey Bones is the answer. I get compliments on his work on a daily basis, everywhere I go. Monkey Bones HANDS DOWN!!!!! The rest of you dumb f@%*’s need to take a lesson!
Every shop on this poll steals artists from Blue Byrd, the place where great artists are made. Forget about Dayton. Blue Byrd Tattoo Studios are the best shops in southwest Ohio!
Monkey Bones…Andy Blair. You can get a good tattoo at Truth and Triumph, you can also get told what they won’t put on you and that they don’t use colors….that was my experience. They treated me like an idiot and they were rude. I think the experience is also about how you are treated and the artists at Monkey Bones will listen and do what you want and not what “they” think is good enough to put on you…. A tattoo is a very PERSONAL thing.
Truth and Triumph is the best! Josh Williams is awesome!!! He can do anything and everything!!! The place is clean and the guys are great!! If you really want a great job by the best, go see Josh!!!
I have 4 tattoos all done at Monkey Bones (Mike G., Travis, and Jim). I would never go anywhere else for ink and never go elsewhere for piercings (Rozz rocks!). They’re awesome, professional, extremely talented and creative guys. It would be a travesty if they didn’t get the most votes!
i been getting tattoos in my brothers kitchen for years, until i got i REAL tattoo at blue byrd. i tell ya. those guys are a******s. TALENTED talented a******s.
I have a piece of body art Mike G. from Monkey Bones although I got mine back in like 1998 when he was an apprentice at Glen Scott,My sis has new and old Mike G tatts, and dont get me wrong I love my Tattoo from Him But nuthin and No ones Ive ever seen(and I aint new to the Body Art game)Compares To My Chris Fullam(from Tattoo Tech) Body Art, I Love it ,I cant find not one flaw,It looks almost 3D like its going to pop off my skin.He is a Master Artist !!!Worth Every Penny!
To all those who are standing in line for Mike G. @ Monkey Bones…you’re right he is the best. HOWEVER!!! the man IS STILL MARRIED. You want to have his kid?? How about letting him take care of the one he already has! I’m not sure who I feel sorry for the most you tramps who can’t get a single man and have to screw up a family , him for having deal with tattoo groupies, or his family knowing that it’s people like you that helped ruin it for them. I didn’t know homewrecking the new “it” hobby.
You have forgot about Taylors Tattoos in Miamisburg. One of the longest standing shops in the Dayton area..Great staff and original work.Check them out..
glenn scott is the worst place to get tattooed in dayton. they are a bunch of turds that work there and there artists suck. truth and triumph is in a whole different league then any of these other shops. east dayton tattoo…laugh my a*&@ off. what a joke
Even though my artist isn’t there anymore, I love Monkey Bones. The rest of the artists there are great and do phenomenal work. When I got to get my next tattoo I will go back there for it and have someone else do it. I tell everyone thinking of getting a tattoo to go to Monkey Bones.
I must say I have 7 tattoos 5 were done by Travis Combs at Monkey Bones! Not only does he do amazing work, he is a great and funny guy. I have also been pierced by Rozz there. I tell all of my friends to go there and when people say my tattoos look awesome I give them a Travis business card! All of my friends go there!
Glen Scott by far. I’ve gone to Tat Tech and had to have Carl @ Glen Scott FIX what Tat Tech f’d up! I thought Carl was amazing and went back for a new tat from him. Wow! And Brad could pierce a flee and make it look good!
Glen Scott by far. I’ve gone to Tat Tech and had to have Carl @ Glen Scott FIX what Tat Tech f’d up! I thought Carl was amazing and went back for a new tat from him. Wow! And Brad could pierce a flee and make it look good!
Monky at Deja vu in Fairborn is the s**t!! He is one of the best up and coming artists around…i highly suggest you all go see him or his myspace page and the work speaks for itself..
Monkey Bones is the best tattoo place ever!! I wouldn’t let anyone else tattoo me!!! Plus Mike G. is only the hottest tattoo person around! I’m going to have his baby some day! He just don’t know it yet! ;-)
Monkey Bones is amazing. Ive gotten some great ink done by Mike and I have seen a ton of the other stuff he has done. Its always a fun place to hang around as well as knowing that everything is done right and clean. Keep up the good work boys! <3
I have had all of my tattoos done at MONKEY BONES with the exception of one really great piece by Monky at DejaVu…the whole crew at Monkey Bones is amazing….Mike, Travis, Andy, Jim, Roz….Without a doubt they are the best tattoo shop in Dayton.
I vote for Chad Wells but since hes not on here i vote for the hotties at Truth and Triumph, to be fair i never have had work done by the others and most i wouldnt let touch me even if THEY
there are alot of great shops that have been left out.. starting to sound like a “Good ole Boy club” pick your artist there are plenty of them, since my shop isn’t one on the list, I’m voting for Truth an triumph, Brian and Josh do my pieces…
i usually go to someone who isn’t at one of these shops, i go to chad wells. i really love the work i’ve seen come out of smart bomb, i seen work from ian and amanda. i also think that even though dave at blue byrd has a big head he’s done great by me, and i dont know alot about them but the work i’ve seen out of new breed and monkey bones is good too. alot of shops in dayton have amazing artist and are very friendly.
To the one who said this isn’t all Dayton has to offer. These are the ones worth a damn. HOWEVER, Mike G. at MONKEY BONES is the only one who will ever do my work. I refer everyone who asks to him and I pass out as many of his business cards as I do my own. Everyone else is sub par to MONKEY BONES.
truth and triumph is posting myspace bulletins to get votes from all there D**k riding scenesters monkey bones is the most professional and does the best work in Dayton overall
This voting “best of Dayton” contest is a Joke and a fraud. My company , Stafford Jewelers, was part of last weeks “best Jeweler” contest. Much to our surprise and disapointment, one of the Jewelers dumped in 1700 votes on Sunday night (the last night of the contest over a 2 hour period) to take the Best of Dayton title away from us. When I contacted Ms. Fong at the Dayton Daily I was advised that they would look in to it. Well they did and here is her responce: Hi Mr. Stafford, I just tried to call you and was unable to get a voicemail recording, so I wanted to get back with you in some form. Weve had our tech team look into the Best of Dayton voting, and we did notice something suspect happening at approximately 6 p.m. Sunday. However, we cannot conclude with certainty that this was a case of automated voting, which violates our rules, of course. The votes were coming from multiple sources). But still the volume of activity at that time was definitely not normal. I have consulted with Mike Goheen, the online director for Cox Ohio Publishing, and we believe the best way to move forward is to nullify this vote and have another vote in this same category later this year. We will be eliminating the category Best View and placing Best Jewelry Store up for vote again Sept. 8-14 (that is Labor Day week, so voting will run from Tuesday through the following Monday). Thank you for raising concerns. I would be happy to discuss this with you in more detail if youd like. I will be bouncing in and out of some meetings this afternoon, but if I miss your call I will get back with you as soon as I can. Michelle Fong Editor, ActiveDayton.com Cox Ohio Publishing Media Center 1611 S. Main St. Dayton, OH 45409 Office: (937) 225-2271 e-mail: mfong@coxohio.com www.ActiveDayton.com All of our “get out the vote” was wasted effort. Ms. Fong decision not to follow the rules or the spirit of the contest only shows that if your a Dayton Daily advertising client and you get caught cheating, you will get a “free pass” /do over in the contest. My company will not ever be a part of this contest again and would urge everyone to rethink this “best of Dayton” contest. John M. Stafford Founder Stafford Jewelers

Am looking for another shop with a great artist,
By seriously?

Hopefully he reads this cuz I ain’t the only one sayin it in Dayton.

you know ive heard good things about krazy katz so i went there to get a simple rosary… and 3 times THREE!!!! spyder cancelled on me… i thik he may be talented but very unprofessional… and that alone was enough to make me think bad of them… and the worst part about him canceling THREE appoinments… he never even called to let me know he was going to bethere… so i had to drive alll the way across town THREE times just to be let down… after i took the days off work….

How about letting him take care of the one he already has! I’m not sure who I feel sorry for the most you tramps who can’t get a single man and have to screw up a family , him for having deal with tattoo groupies, or his family knowing that it’s people like you that helped ruin it for them.
