Yes I do believe that the airport needs more eateries but not an upscaled golf themed restaurant. People are looking for quick and easy for families or something on the go. I have worked at the airport for a long time and the number one place that I get asked is where is the McDonalds. The airport needs to think about families.

The bigger story is that the Dayton Airport is continuing to do well in maintaining it’s share of flights on the schedule when most other airports are losing service. The airport’s marketing campaign encouraging people to not drive so far for air service was conceived well before the run-up in gas prices. Similar forward-thinking investment in upgrading airport concessions while others are contracting will reap rewards in the future.

Love the local music and the exterior benches are fantastic upgrades to the airport. Dayton will come out of this.

Yes, agreed as an employee who comes to the airport everyday. We do need upgrading to our airport. I really like the changes made so far! Excellent.

However, I am having a really hard time with hurting small business in the process. Why do we need Starbucks here to compete with Boston Stoker? Boston Stoker is fabulous! Don’t hurt small business in the process that bring such charm to the DAY airport.

Wow - now I understand why the prices are so high at the airport eateries! Personally I pack a sandwich - after paying through the nose for the ticket I don’t have the money for $10 sandwich or a $3 soda. The Starbuck’s will be lost on me - I don’t ever buy anything from them.

Whatever happened to support your local businesses? I have to agree with the others - bringing Sarbucks to the airport is a mistake. Boston Stoker coffee is far superior to Starbucks. Starbucks is too strong and bitter. I’m afraid that bringing Starbucks to the airport will put Boston Stoker in a bad place, and may eventually force them out. We CAN NOT let that happen!! Boston Stoker rocks!

It appears taxpayers are paying for these improvements after all, to the tune of 3 million dollars. Of course the City will argue there will be increased rents over the next 10 years, but the initial outlay is still there - and all for a cup of coffee, a sandwich, and a book, all overpriced. I wonder what city workers being asked to give up raises they already bargained for in good faith, and which the city agreed to, think of this, and how far it would go to cover their raises?

I have sveral comments but would like to agree with the below comment first. How is adding a Starbucks good for people flying in and out. Should we represent our local coffee brewer? Not too mention quality and price. . adding Starbucks is a bad choice and will push out the local brand. Customers will spend more money for less quality. I have a serious issue with this. Not too mention everybody is right… the difference for my flight out of CMH was $239 out of Dayton it was $950.

Has anyone ever compared Boston stoker to starbucks? If you have, then you know that Boston Stoker is a far superior product. Adding a starbucks would be a severe downgrade in quality. At the airport the Stoker’s prices are still lower than any starbucks.Immagine how much a venti latte, $4.75 @ at starbucks outside the airport, will cost inside the airport? Right now a 20oz(large)latte @ the Stoker @ the airport is $3.75. The City of dayton should support the local buisness vs. a national chain!

Why not just lower your fares out of Dayton and keep us from driving to Columbus for cheaper and more non stop flights! Who cares about the food?

It’ll be nice to see the Quizno’s and extras, but I’m disappointed in the Starbuck’s. I like Starbuck’s as much as the next guy, but they’re unneccesary w/ Boston Stoker already there. Why bring in a national competitor to challenge the local business? Most other airports I go to (or through) have one type (i.e., Caribou Coffee, etc.)

I fly out of Dayton alot. It’s more convenient, and often much cheaper than Columbus and Cincinnati.

Look at the big picture — Just 15 years ago, Dayton’s airport was little more than a big bus terminal with airplanes circling around it. The last two airport directors, especially the current one, have made massive progress there. Furthermore, taxpayers are not paying for these improvements, private interests are. Once all the scheduled improvements are in place, the Dayton Airport will be virtually unrecognizable from just a few years ago. They should be commended, not criticized.

Flying out of Dayton is just so convenient. I’ve always thought they could use a few more eateries. This was much needed as passenger numbers flying in/out of Dayton continue to rise.

I love flying out of Dayton. What other airport can you get there 30 minutes before a flight and still not have to rush to the gate? It may not have lots of extras, but for convenience, it can’t be beat! I think it’s great they’re adding a Quiznos, but I think Starbuck’s is overrated.

The really sad part of all this is that after 9/11, the city spend a lot of taxpayer dollars to reconfigure the airport into a security compound where anyone who didnt have have a ticket obviously wouldnt want a drink, a coke and a sandwhich or a pack of cigarrettes. Now the taxpayer, yet again is going to have to pay to put it back to the way it was before - Just Doesn’t Make Sense!!!

DAYTON IS SOO BEHIND, AND I BELIEVE IT’S A LITTLE TOO LATE TO TRY TO CATCH-UP! EVERYTHING IS GONE AND CUSTOMERS DON’T MIND FLYING INTO CINCINNATI OR COLUMBUS AIRPORTS, THEY HAVE MORE TO OFFER IN A SHORT OR EXTENDED STAY IN OHIO. DAYTON AIRPORT IS SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT WHEN COMPARED TO NEIGHBORING AIRPORTS.

Dayton has the best fares around the region. I sure hope that adding a Starbucks and Quiznos is not gonig to raise the taxes, fees and fares! Spend money to make expansions, raise the fares, people stop using Dayton’s services — the American way.

Well, Dayton is finally catching up with the rest of the nation’s airports. Most airports have already reconfigured to accomodate the security needs and provide some long overdue services. Wilbur and Orville may have been innovators, but Dayton airport has not kept up with innovation compared to most other airports I visit….
