Enlighten me on ‘Twilight’
I have seen Twilight, and it’s …
Well, for that you’ll have to read my review. But first, let me explain where I am on this saga.
As was the case when the Harry Potter movies came out, I’m new to the latest literary rage. I haven’t read any of Stephenie Meyers’ novels, so I’m still trying to sort all this out. Since I’ve seen the movie, I’m familiar with the first story, but I have a few matters I’m curious about.
Most every article I read about the books or movies talks about teen girls being the target audience. Is it really that limited, or are we in the press just focusing on the most vocal contingent?
Is there much crossover with the Potter fanbase? Do Potter fans and Twilight fans hate each other, especially now that Twilight slipped into Harry’s old release date?
And finally, sum up what Meyer’s books mean to you. I’d like to hear some testimonials.

um, Cali, non-fiction means real life. I am willing to bet $5 that the Twilight series didn’t really happen, and is Fiction. Of course, the vampire stuff in the non-fiction category is a whole other can of worms, but I digress. My wife will probably drag me along, since her coworkers that want to see it refuse to come up this far to see it.By IndependentOne

My granddaughter adores this series! When the last book came out she won a contest for the best overall themed costume at Books & Co. She is pushing 18. I “borrowed” one book and soon I was hooked. Its a nice story (but certainly not, as one poster stated, “non-fiction.” Its purely fiction - but the books are enticing, the story very interesting, and the writer leads you ever so slowly into anticipation. Its a story of true love overcoming all things and at 65 I can say I enjoyed every one! Movie? Kids are going tonight. I’ll watch it when its out on TV….By Sir Critic

Woooooo! I love Twilight!! I went to the premiere in LA & got to meet the cast…it was awesome! I also met the author & the director & they were so nice! Ok so, I’m not much of a person who likes to read for pleasure, but I’ve been getting better at that. Recently 8 of my friends kept bugging me to read Twilight so I finally gave in! And I LOVE it! Also, I never read Harry Potter, I just couldn’t get into it…& don’t hate me but I always thought it was lame lol. I think Twilight is totally different! I’m actually surprised I like Twilight, because I usually don’t like non-fiction books. I haven’t read them - but I do intend to. For once I want to see the movie first - since it’s coming out before I’ve gotten around to starting them since I have been reading another lengthy series that I want to finish first. That way I won’t have to be disappointed on the movie vs. the book - I will be able to just watch it on its own merits. With Potter done, I am looking for new series, but I want to go back and read all of the Potter books in succession too - rather than waiting years in between for the next one to come out! Looking forward to your full review…I will probably try to see it this weekend.By Connie S.

I have been reading the series and have enjoyed them, my friends teenage daughter got me started on them. I am no teenager am in my 40’s is this based for teen’s yes I think so. I wouldn’t consider the same as Potter. I just hope that when I go see the movie(with my friends teenage daughter) the movie doesn’t disappoint. Oh and by the way my boss is hooked on the books also another adult in her 40’s. LOLBy Lea

Well, tweens and teens scream louder than adults. Actually I belong to a book club where the ages range from 12 to 68, and these books started the club! I have personally read the entire series 12 times since April. I’m 36, mom of two. My mom likes them as well as my daughter. You really should read the books, no doubt they’re better than the movie… Which I WILL see tomorrow!By Kim S.

I’ve read all 4 of them, and I finished the last book in about 48 hours. Is the story original? Nope. Not even close really. Marketing solely to teenage girls? Not solely. I can’t even compare it to Potter - Potter is one kid’s story initially, then growns into the story of three. Twilight stays at the two. I’m considering waiting on the movie until DVD - I saw the Potters too recently after I read them and was disappointed. And I wouldn’t call it eroticism at all, or at least I got more out of it than that. I really enjoyed the books, but I doubt they can translate it well. Then again, they never do.By SRCputt

My teenage daughter loves them, had to buy the fourth book the day it came out. She’s always been interested by vampires. Do I think its eroticism for the teen set. You bet.
