Best Picture: No Country for Old Men

And inevitably, given the way the awards have gone, “No Country” picks up the big prize - and I have less than no problem with that. I saw it last night. In fact, I saw ALL the nominees again last night - more on that later - and “No Country” still packs a heck of a punch, even though I like “There Will Be Blood” just a bit more. No complaints in this corner.

To the “Who cares about the Oscars” crowd. You are entitled to your opinions, of course. However, I must say I find it interesting that you so strongly don’t care about the Oscars, that you … take the time to comment on a blog post about the Oscars. I thank you for reading, though.

“no reality hedonists”: that’s a much better description of the big summer movies than what was being celebrated last night. But then, dd has a life.

Who cares about the oscars. Most people have a life and don’t need to watch a collection of out of touch over paid no reality hedonists stroke each other to have satisfaction.

Having also seen the five best picture nominees yesterday, I would have voted for There Will Be Blood but No Country is a fine choice. Actually, I came away thinking four great films got nominated this year, and if the academy had just replaced Juno with Diving Bell and the Butterfly, five great films would have been nominated this year.

Ha… I also saw No Country again last night. I’m also happy. I still love the film. And I too loved There Will Be Blood more. Daniel receiving his Oscar, though, was consolation enough. PTA can be satisfied that this film has been considered popular enough to become a part of the lexicon.
